If that is actually what happened then that's fine but keep in mind that he announced Tennessee as his leader on May 30th. Also keep in mind that the 247 Clemson writers never believed that Tennessee was his leader which would indicate that he was giving out conflicting information. It appears that the Bleacher Report video was filmed during the week of June 20th. We have also heard rumors that he was telling UT coaches and players during OCD that he was committing to Tennessee. You can give him the benefit of the doubt if you want to but this does appear to have been more than just an innocent changing of the mind.
He can change his mind all he wants. That's not what happened here though. Another freedom people have is to slam the kid for lying to the staff when he clearly had already decided to go elsewhere. Funny how that choice thing works.
On one hand you have an immature kid doing immature things. On the other hand you have adults making immature comments about kids because he didn't choose their school. Sure its a choice, does this choice of "slamming" a kid feel good? Not to me.
Had Tee been "truthful" VQ and all the sites would have started the "well, we feel things have changed here and Clemson has the momentum". All but ruins the kids taped announcement to anyone following his recruitment. Even telling the UT staff likely has news coming out before he announces. Its played out before. Callahan had him to Clemson I believe. He must have not bought into it. I don't see a big issue with it. Kid played the game. Just like coaches do.

That's cool. Then don't jump up and down when our coaches replace 5 or 6 kids this cycle.

Then you don't have to partake. I'm not suggesting that people say horrible, mean things to the kid directly. But at 17 a kid should know right from wrong and be held accountable. Calling him out for an action he put in motion is on him. The fallout he created is on him. That's part of being an adult and making adult decisions. This over protecting of kids Tee's age is why we have a bunch of cocky entitled punks running around. Too many wimpy parents chose not to step up and put their kids in check.
I don't really have a problem with him publicly saying we are his leader, then committing to Clemson. I DO have a problem however, if he committed to the coaches in bad faith. Talk all you want about not wanting to ruin his own announcement, but coaches spend a lot of time and effort on this. Misleading them is a d!ck move.
So growing up is coming to terms that lying is an acceptable trait? Maybe, you should follow your own advice. Possibly challenge yourself to become a better person.
What does holding Tee accountable mean in this case? Berating him repeatedly from behind an anonymous message board? That'll teach him.
Isn't part of being an adult and making adult decisions also learning to move on when someone makes a choice you don't agree with? What a bunch of adults we are.
Who said it's acceptable? I'm just saying stop using it to crucify the kid. It's really not that big of a deal.
It's fans like you that will prevent him and other kids from changing their mind back to UT.
It definitely doesn't mean to kiss his ass or pat him on the head and tell him it's ok, "everybody lies". I mean that will teach him as well, right?
I'm an adult discussing a kid's decision on an anonymous message board designed to discuss his recruitment. Seeing as though that's the case, how he handled the recruitment seems to be fair game. Last I checked I didn't bump this thread from the bottom. But I'm not obligated to share your opinion about how poorly this kid behaved and is currently behaving during his recruitment. I think being accepting of poor behavior puts a person lower on the adult chart than people who denounce the behavior. But that's just me.
For starters, I wouldn't classify lying as a good character trait.
I wasn't aware he lied. To whom?
If you mean changing his mind, that's not lying, that's the way recruiting goes. We hear all sorts of rumors but I bet most are false. Some of you guys sound like you are in high school and you just lost your girlfriend
And some of you are as smart as a bag of hammers if you believe Tee simply 'changed his mind'. No bitterness on my end, I just live in reality and choose not to recreate it. My involvement in today's exchange was my simple response to your original question and a slew of posters felt the need to white knight Tee. I don't care to discuss this kid anymore, but if some of you believe Tee simply changed his mind, I have some magic beans I'd like to sell you.
