'17' TN ATH Tee Higgins (Clemson commit)

Is that because they can't recruit in Florida or Georgia or Texas or California or other places where there is talent?

Not at all. They just saw an opportunity fairly close to home and said, why not.

Lots of talk that hiring Shoop would help secure these 2017 guys instate.

I can't help but think my long standing concerns with ignoring and or passing on TN kids while other quality programs came in and scooped them up would come to a head. IMO, it was a matter of time. I hate it, but I saw it coming.

What is the obsession of Clemson with Tennessee? Someone there has major insecurity issues.

1. Dabo is still pissed at CBJ for outrecruiting him for Malone. He uses Malone's stats to recruit against us.

2. That ill-conceived WRU battle last year has made Clemson determined to take TN's best WRs to prove a point.

3. Amari Rodgers and Hunter Johnson really want to stick it to UT. Tee's in with them now.

4. TN has a lot of elite talent this year, and peer recuiting has made it easy for Clemson to cherrypick the guys they want.

5. They are obviously not effective in recruiting in their home state. South Carolina currently has most of the top recruits committed including the number 1 WR who is rated higher than Rodgers.

And when does he secure so many WRs that the top ones start looking elsewhere? Some of these kids will ride the bench at Clemson.

And unlike a lot on here I don't get worked up over all this. I do think the games these kids and some of the coaches play is quite disturbing though. Somewhere in all this, what is best for the kid as a person seems to get lost in the quest to "make a point" or get back at another coach.

A kid should make the best decision based on what is best for them and they should leave the other players to make that same decision. Their parents, high school coaches, trusted family and friends are who they should be consulting, not some other 16 / 17 year old kid who may in the end get frustrated and leave them alone at a school they really didn't want to be at. That is why many end up in places they are not successful at and end up transferring when they realize the decision they made was wrong.

Hope that your back isn't too bruised from patting it. You act like Tennessee recruits have a collective consciousness. I'm sure they talk but I guarantee tee Higgins and Jacoby Stevens don't give a damn about how Ugo Amadi and Nate Johnson were recruited by us.

Maybe not. Having more TN guys on the roster would obviously improve the chances for signing TN kids who are friends, being from the same state.

Lets say Amadi instead of Miller. Johnson instead of Henderson. Small moves, but not only have you added quality TN players, but the class is actually ranked higher. Public perception, increased. Just a couple examples.

What makes you think that kids from the same state are friends? Is the state border made of rainbows and puppies to you?

No. Of course not all kids get along with teammates, or neighboring schools. Would I bank on 2 highly sought after recruits from the same school or area being friends vs one from TN and one from Ontario? Sure. Did I think taking Amadi would help secure Richmond? Sure. Of course I felt Amadi was worthy of a spot by himself.

:) Tennessee is a very long (mile wise) and diverse state. I would dare say kids in certain areas have a greater chance to be friends with kids in other states than they do with a kid in Tennessee that lives on the other side of the state.

I get what he is saying but I don't think folks in some parts of the state really care or is even aware of what happens in another part of the state. Loyalty is at a more local level.

Why dont you folks take your discussion to the recruiting forum thread and let this thread fade to the back pages of this board. This kid played us and our coaches.
Dont give him more attention.

He/she seemed to be connected to this recruitment. I never remember the poster making those kind of statements on other recruits in the past.

Not dyllis, but he/she answered this a number of pages back. Said that he didn't have specific info, was just a gut feeling based on Tee's location and family history of being Vol fans.

In-state kids play against each other and meet each other at camps. They follow each other on social media and text back and forth. The TN Future Stars team has the best players from all over the state. They start playing together in middle school and keep in touch. Some of them peer recruit each other, as TKJr did for us several years back.

What recruits have we passed on that were highly recruited by SEC schools?

A lot that showed SEC offers. Of course how hard they pushed I have no clue. Its always been my opinion if a TN kid can play at schools like Michigan, ND, Clemson, UCLA, or whatever, than they could play and do well at UT. Of course guys like Amadi Johnson, and others held SEC offers.
