'17' TN ATH Tee Higgins (Clemson commit)

Yes......it only Jun.....July

If you fill the class with mid level 3* guys early it can help and or possibly hurt you IMO. A 4-5* guy might like it as it may point to him seeing the field sooner. On the other hand they may see it as bad as they may not have as talented a supporting class around them. For now, the top guys definitely don't seem too impressed.

"Give up...whine...shut it down". Quite the mission statement.

Nope. I used the phrase so far for a reason.

Should we shut the recruiting forum down until NSD?

No...just need the posters that can't handle the reality of recruiting to go chase shiny objects in the other forums. :)

ATP I think it is an indictment of our entire class so far.

Also don't get the Player A vs Player B point, especially when they're two years apart.

Agree on both points. This reaction is due to what we have so far. If we had commitments from most of the Instate guys, Hunter Johnson, and "had the momentum" with guys like Jordan Williams, you'd probably see a bit more ambivalence in this thread. I think a lot of guys view this as the equivalent of not getting in to your "safety school."

The Preston comparison would be more comforting if he had redshirted last year. As it is, his career and Higgins' theoretical UT career would overlap by as little as 1 season.

If PW ends up as good as we anticipate, that RS year would have been the year we didn't get any stats for the stud leaving early for the NFL. Risk was aggravating his knee injury...didn't happen.

...which can easily be explained away, considering the circumstances. Sometimes the aspirational works better than a proven lackluster year. And it's not just the risk of reinjury, but the quick turnaround from the injury, and resulting lack of effectiveness. There are stories out there like Adrian Peterson, but most players knee injuries take more time to get right than just the repair and early rehab of the knee itself.

Got some production and playing time from a talent that ain't going to be here all 4 years IMO.

Hopefully he is that good, but way too early to forecast that with any certainty. Anyway, you are incorrectly reading into it that I am arguing about not redshirting him. My point is that PW doesn't really mitigate the loss of TH because their time won't overlap much.

Cool...mine was that the lack of redshirting PW didn't affect that point...tho you mentioned it. :). And you can't lose what you never had.

This thread is legendary. Where does it tank in the history of Volnation? Where would it rank if/when Higgins flips back to us?

I hate that I keep clicking on this thread- but what was basilio talking about Bobby Maze being partly to blame for this? Anybody know that backstory? Or I guess it doesn't matter at this point- just curious.
