'17' TN ATH Tee Higgins (Clemson commit)

Yes Tennessee will survive, but you have to adapt. If we are losing out on playmakers on offense, we will be regulated to doldrums. Nothing wrong with having a qb that can throw more 15 yards accurately.

I guess I just don't consider Tee a playmaker - sorry but I don't. He could prove me wrong in his last high school season but in the game I saw him play in he was completely irrelevant to the outcome of the game.

I'm sure he has the potential (speed, et al) - but if it is not used, it serves no purpose.

I've been off enjoying the holiday since this morning and have settled down just a bit so here is my take. Here we are with SEC/ National title hopes with no productive WR's. Who's to say we can't continue this trend. 95% of us would say that a dominant run game and defense wins championships. Yeah it sucks on losing a guy like this in our backyard but maybe this offense is going to be run based.

If we miss on Chandler, Akers and all of our top RB recruits then we need to worry. A lot.

This hurts but we have become a title contender without WR production so why can't we continue?

These players need to make decisions that are best for them, not giving into peer pressure. Nobody knows what the future holds, injuries could happen, coaches move on, if his heart was with UT he should have chosen UT.

Yeah but maybe his heart was somewhere else
Other than UT. Maybe he was giving into peer pressure when he committed to us earlier.

I'm just telling you how Clemson does it. If commits take visits they are then decommited. It happened last fall with a bigtime LB (forget his name). He was a Clemson commit but wanted to take visits. So he decommited, took some visits, and then recommitted near NSD and signed with Clemson.

Put it this way: Clemson doesn't have a game on Sept. 24th when Tenn plays Florida. I hope you're right and Dabo sticks with his policy because the temptation for him to attend that game will be very strong. If he does, then evidently Tenn is back in it. Tenn is a long shot here (when we thought we lead) but I don't think it's over.

It is not a practical policy when you're recruiting a player who is a 40 minute drive away from a school which plays in a much better conference than you do... Higgins will visit Tennessee this fall. I don't expect him to flip though and I wouldn't trust him anyway if he said he was.

Try about 20 min drive. Tee could leave at 4 get there turn around and go back home get and be back by 5:15.

I'm sure he is thinking more long term as in getting to the NFL and playing where he can get the best coaching. Maybe he thinks that is Clemson.

We need to show that we can use WRs better.

You can laugh - just saying he did absolutely nothing in the game I saw him play in. The other Oak Ridge receiver looked better.

To be fair - I revisited the stats from that game - the entire Oak Ridge offense didn't have much success at all that night. I guess it could have been that the other team was just a better TEAM.

I don't believe it but if he is it will be one of Butch's best gets yet.

A lot can happen between now and February. We could have a natty or we could be 8-4 again and be looking to fire Butch

Agree. We have the talent to win it all. Catch a few breaks and it could happen.

I'll say it again. He will be a vol on nsd.

He may or may not be a Vol on NSD, but this one is long from over. Butch will have him back on campus for the big games and if we win those, with the atmosphere during and after the game, we will be right back in this. Especially if Dabo holds to his policy, and I'm sure Tee will visit games here.

You just said what I've basically been saying and if Tennessee and Florida are both undefeated Sept. 24th... I have to think he will be at Neyland and hopefully on an official. Clemson doesn't even play that day. Does anyone think Butch is saying, "Next!" or do you think he's saying "Game On!" and "Full Court Press, B****es!"

It's an uphill battle but it's not over.

Hope you're right.

I've learned my lesson. I will just sit here and observe.

Dude, keep telling us what you are hearing. It is because I know you are solid that it helps to put the pieces together. GFW, I actually know who he is because we have mutual friends and because of some stuff he shared. This is why I know what you both said was true. I don't know who BIO is and not knocking him but just don't know him. By you sharing what you did, it makes it very credible that Tee just trolled UT just like Bell did.

Please share. It does make the story come together even if it appears you had bad info. The only reason your info turned out wrong was because Tee and his family gave bad info out. If he doesn't make the NFL, he better be ready to live in SC in that pot hole city for life.
