'17' TN ATH Tee Higgins (Clemson commit)

Not when he doesn't have any leverage. He obviously would not rescind the offer for Tee Higgins if he visited Tennessee... and do you really think he won't visit Tennessee this fall? Have you seen Clemson's home schedule? Tennessee's is a little more interesting to say the least. Higgins probably won't flip but I will be shocked if Tennessee doesn't get an OV.

I guess that's up to the coach. If you say don't commit unless you're done with visits then don't do anything if said recruit does take visits, you're wasting your time stating the policy. I'm not sure how Dabo handles each case.

Oh my..
I just looked at their home schedule. There's not a game that would interest me in going to see.
I'd be willing to bet he'll be at the Florida and Bama games here.

Yep, they have maybe 2 tough games out of 12. Pretty weak for sure but that's ACC football. It's a BBall conference.:)

Let's just be honest here... He can't stop Higgins from going to the Florida or Alabama games... and I bet Higgins probably does. Clemson plays NOBDODY of note at home this year and Higgins will probably want to attend a good game or two this season. It may be over for his recruitment but Higgins will definitely visit. It's what? A 40 minute drive from his house?

Once he sees how boring their games are, he may rethink things.:)

I agree he can't stop him. Dabo just has to enforce his policy if he does. Who knows. Tee may respect the policy, knows it, and is done with visits.

Dabo doesn't let commits take visits.

So when a player commits, the coach can now dictate what they can and can't do? Does he also guarantee to the player that their scholarship will not be rescinded if he needs to? Does he also guarantee that he or the coach that recruited the player will not leave the school?

A player would be very unwise to not keep doors open for the unexpected, IMO.

There is loyalty and then there blind loyalty.

When you recruit like clemson you can do that

It is not a practical policy when you're recruiting a player who is a 40 minute drive away from a school which plays in a much better conference than you do... Higgins will visit Tennessee this fall. I don't expect him to flip though and I wouldn't trust him anyway if he said he was.

If the coach has a proven history of honoring committed offers, I don't see an issue. In fact, I'd imagine recruits would prefer it. They know their spot is secure. There is value in that.

I'm just telling you how Clemson does it. If commits take visits they are then decommited. It happened last fall with a bigtime LB (forget his name). He was a Clemson commit but wanted to take visits. So he decommited, took some visits, and then recommitted near NSD and signed with Clemson.

Agree their spot is secure as long at the coaching staff is still there. But you never know who is going to be fired, who is going to retire and what openings would result with a coach leaving.

It is why the players should commit to a school and not base it off what the school has done in the past.

That's my understanding of how Dabo does things. The spot is opened back up. If he can fill it he does, or if the the recruit wants back in, its a possibility depending on other options.

I've been saying this for months now. Somebody got inside of Tee's mind. I don't know who. Maybe a player at Clemson or even a teammate at Oak Ridge. They have persuaded his mind to change from wanting to be a Vol to wanting to be a Clemson Tiger.

This will be one of them decisions when he officially makes it that he will think after doing it "Man, did I just screw up on my decision?" His heart has been with UT all his life.

I mean growing up in this great state & going to high school at Oak Ridge High School who is almost always a state contender. I just feel it's not looking good at all for us now. I did have the percentages at 50%-50% for UT-Clemson.

Then, a few weeks ago I said it's now up to 60% Clemson & 40% Vols. I now think it's starting to look even higher for Clemson at more like 65%-70% Clemson & 30%-35% UT.

Just being honest about the situation. Just as another member stated this would be the biggest loss in recruitment for Butch since he became head coach. It would be awful to lose Tee but what choice do we have but to move on. He's a great talent & it's going to be painful to see him wearing an orange & blue Clemson uniform but nothing we can do about it if that happens.

I might even shed a few tears over it myself having seen this kid play this past football season & will get to see him again this coming season when they host Dobyns-Bennett.

These players need to make decisions that are best for them, not giving into peer pressure. Nobody knows what the future holds, injuries could happen, coaches move on, if his heart was with UT he should have chosen UT.
