'17' TN ATH Tee Higgins (Clemson commit)

I wonder why Urban didn't carry him to OSU with him? He brought him onboard at UF in 2010 and it was the worst offensive year in Urban's tenure; granted it was the first year post-Tebow. He was sitting at WKU in 2011 in the bye year for Urban and he could've had him at OSU if he wanted him.

I can't say what the other situations were all about. What I see is a fan base pinning a lot of blame on a WR coach and a Head Coach who appears to not see it as an issue.

I will say that butch jones is one of the best closers in the recruiting scene and if he can prove that 1) we are a contender now i.e 11+ wins and 2) that we have fixed our passing game then we have a shot. I understand the whole when they commit to Clemson then no decommittment occurs but I'll never count Butch out. (I may have earlier but that is silly of new)

He won't take this one lightly. We need to get Tee back on campus if we can. He lives 30-45 minutes from campus and if we can't do, even with the whole "no visits once you commit" bull then we won't be an elite program. This thing isn't over until January or February.

This sucks.

Times like these I decide to not even look at anything to do with recruiting until around January.
That usually lasts a day or so.

I've stated before I'm not a fan of CZA. I do believe though if he was seriously a weak link or a detriment to our success Butch would have made a move. He hasn't.

Butch is very good but he ain't perfect.....can't manage the ends of big/crucial ball games and he should've fired a feckless WR coach/passing game coordinator already. With Tee not coming here, gotta believe that second one is now coming back to bite him in the ass.

Butch could try to pull a power move. Who is Clemsons WR coach? Butch could offer him 750 grand today, and fire ZA. LOL

So we are basically going to miss out on our 2 best in-state players at a time when our program is at its best spot in 10 years?

This is perplexing, but can change quickly if we show the ability and/or willingness to have any semblance of a downfield passing game.

A coach or team should NOT change their offense for ONE person, especially a wide receiver. Football is a team sport not an individual sport.

If this opens up a slot for someone else that truly wants to be at UT - so be it. This generation does not have the same pride in their home town or home state that fans do. They are lauded and applauded and told how great they are and promised a path to the NFL. They are going to choose based on that - for some it will work out - for others they will get lost in the shuffle.

Tennessee will survive.

This goes to show that any insider info is fallible if the recruit is telling everyone what they want to hear... Getting angry at Hubbs or the insiders here is pointless. Higgins wasn't playing it straight with the UT staff. It's a huge loss if it stays this way. There is no sugar coating this one. It's Butch's biggest recruiting loss so far. Can't wait for the season to start now!

He's not just any 17 year old- you don't have to be so smug Mueller. I'm just sick of Tennessee getting the short end of the stick every damn time. Can't believe Butch had the stones to fire Jancek to get Shoop but doesn't get rid of Azzani. He just might now, not that it would matter. I agree Higgins is done game over.

Look at his haircut, could tell he was a douche from the start. Haha.

Seriously though, its whatever at this point. Gotta produce at the WR.

I don't think people are angry at the "insiders," although Bob Mueller's snarky quoting is a bit grating. I think most of us realize that this was a troll job by Tee and his camp. The insiders bring the info they get, and the info just happened to be lies. Can't do anything about it when the recruit tells you something that flat isn't true. Has nothing to do with the credibility of the people bringing the info.

Yes Tennessee will survive, but you have to adapt. If we are losing out on playmakers on offense, we will be regulated to doldrums. Nothing wrong with having a qb that can throw more 15 yards accurately.

Tee said he is shutting down his recruitment. Clemson won't let him take visits.

What are they going to do if he does decide to go to the UT vs Alabama game? Rescind his offer? I doubt it. Sometimes the school has leverage and sometimes they don't. Tee lives down the road from the UT campus and will more than likely give us another visit... Can we flip him? Unlikely.

After the way it APPEARS Tee handled this with coaches and staff misleading them on purpose and probably laughing with his best buddies Amari and Hunter later, I don't want him coming to a game. He shouldn't be welcome on our campus at all.

I like it. As long as the coach honors all those offers/commitments he's accepted. From what I've seen, Dabo does. It can work.

Not when he doesn't have any leverage. He obviously would not rescind the offer for Tee Higgins if he visited Tennessee... and do you really think he won't visit Tennessee this fall? Have you seen Clemson's home schedule? Tennessee's is a little more interesting to say the least. Higgins probably won't flip but I will be shocked if Tennessee doesn't get an OV.
