I've stated before I'm not a fan of CZA. I do believe though if he was seriously a weak link or a detriment to our success Butch would have made a move. He hasn't.

Who IS a fan of CZA? Honestly he has done nothing at all at WR. You can recruit all the talent you want but if you can't get them to perform, you're just not a good coach.

This hurts... A lot...

This is how I imagine I would have felt if Warrior hadn't committed to us last year. I went into this commitment with complete confidence.

I think a season that matches expectations and a good showing from the passing game might cause Tee to rethink things, but I just don't know anymore. This class was supposed to challenge for top 3 nationally, but I'm not too sure we will even have a top 10.

Butch made some nice changes in his staff this past offseason and he needs to make some more moves this coming one. Changes need to be made in our passing game, coaching, and recruiting. With our passing game and inability to put players in the league these past few seasons it's no surprise that a kid would choose Clemson over us.

I guess the thing that shocks me the most is how he mislead the staff. With the insiders saying with such confidence that he was ours, you can be certain that he had told the staff he was a Vol. He lied to people that had treated him like family for years...

I hope this story has a Drew Richmond-esque ending where he signs with the good guys at the end. I just don't know anymore though. This recruitment just proves how insiders aren't 100% because no one knows what a recruit is really thinking--only what they are saying.

I do wonder what was said to Tee in the last few weeks that made him go from telling UT he is committed to completely changing his mind. I know he's a kid but it's still a bit odd

That our WRs suck and don't go to the NFL. Clemson does. Game over.

Dabo has also had 5 straight 10+ win seasons and 3 BCS bowl appearances in those 5 years. Last year was just a culmination of what he's been building. Not to mention, his track record of developing WR, as both a WR coach and HC, is indisputable. He's had at least one all-ACC WR in the 13 consecutive seasons he's been at Clemson. When kids see what he did with Aaron Kelly (was ACC's all time leading WR), Watkins, Hopkins, Bryant and now Artavis Scott it's hard to not understand their line of thinking.

So we are basically going to miss out on our 2 best in-state players at a time when our program is at its best spot in 10 years?

This is perplexing, but can change quickly if we show the ability and/or willingness to have any semblance of a downfield passing game.

I know it's the standard for VN to turn on people when they say things that don't agree with you or end up being wrong-- Ex: Catbone, insiders 50% of the time, etc-- but I don't think people should be too hard on any of the insiders involved on this one, even Turtle (Who proved himself to either have a connection or to be Nostradamus). The insiders reported what the staff had been told so it's not like they were wrong, and Turtle reported what was happening originally thinking the video was for UT, but when he realized otherwise he told us. That sucks, but trolling it is not.

Yep. I really think Josh Malone is exhibit A for Clemson and Tee. Dabo wanted Malone, and he has done nothing at UT so far in comparison to his recruiting hype. Of course, it's hard to tell how much of that is his own doing, how much is ZA's fault, and whether Butch's system itself is to blame.

I'm sure Clemson's staff made Tee aware of how Malone was also a 5* guy who decided to "stay home" and is now not even on the radar of NFL teams heading into his junior year, whereas at Clemson Tee will be a guaranteed first-round pick (or so they will tell him).

Well let's see, he's on the staff and you're not. You don't have a coaching track record and he does. If you haven't noticed, our offense relies heavily on the run. Butch's offense likes to rotate multiple receivers to keep them fresh during the entire game. Our offense is built around Dobbs, Hurd, and Kamara. Dobbs is a great QB who can beat you with his legs but he doesn't make the necessary throws for our WR's to make plays. Can Dobbs improve his passing this season? Yes but to blame our WR production on Coach Z is just stupid. We have young talented receivers but Butch's system doesn't let them get the big time stats cause they're always rotating. It works both ways.

You make a great point concerning Higgins' ethics. He clowned us over and again, and recently too by stating that TN, was his leader. Even after a recent three day trip to Clemson; he comes home and says we are still in the lead for him. And while he's saying one thing, he's making a video for B/R announcing for Clemson. Butch, just in case you're feeling a new, unpleasant, sensation right now; it's called being mugged, trolled, by a supposed close family member.
Clemson now has three of TN's top ten players in the class of 17'. And don't think for a second that they're done. They are not finished in TN by a mile. They are after Trey Smith now.....indications are that he has been accessible to them too.

Dobbs is a great runner, but his passing and CZA's coaching tend to underperform. I think that's a totally fair thing to say.

I wonder why Urban didn't carry him to OSU with him? He brought him onboard at UF in 2010 and it was the worst offensive year in Urban's tenure; granted it was the first year post-Tebow. He was sitting at WKU in 2011 in the bye year for Urban and he could've had him at OSU if he wanted him.
