'17' TN ATH Tee Higgins (Clemson commit)

I guarantee Butch is pissed off more about this than he was about Vonn Bell. And that's supposedly the recruit that turned him into a monster on the recruiting trail in 2014 and 2015.

Best of luck to ya. Weak conference and wouldn't be surprised if he decommitted again. But the real team wearing Orange is coming and they are coming out of Knoxville!!!

A lot has to do with that we can't sell a vision anymore or playing time. What we have to sell is results now. We are at the stage where what we do on the field will sell itself for years to come. It hurts losing such a talented player to Clemson but 1) the process isn't over and 2) clemson has been a better team and WR group the past 7 years.

True. This has more to do with individual development IMO.

The great coaches can win double digit by yr 2. Even Mack Brown and Bob Stoops got TX and OK back to being contenders by yr 2or3. Pete Carrol got USC back quick. And these teams were mediocre at best during the 90s

oh so the whole fact that we are most likely gonna be in Atlanta this year is completely pointless just because he didnt do it sooner?

you right, fire butch jones because he didnt do it fast enough, unacceptable

"mediocre at best" and we were on the road to being a full out dumpster fire

5-7, 7-6, 9-4

how is that not results? takes time to rebuild, cant go from 5-7 to 12-0 in one season, anybody who doesnt realize that is ignorant

These are teenagers. They want to play for the cool teams and compete for championships. They don't give a crap about how Dooley left a dumpster fire back when they were in middle school-- they want to win and other coaches are convincing them that UT and CBJ can't do that.

I dont think that really plays in that much. Im sure Jones put in plenty of effort. Kid just chose what he perceives as a better situation for him and his position. The only way that changes is if that position evolves to something better on the field to sell.

Losing has hurt UT. Choking away those games last year makes it easy for other coaches to negative recruit against UT-- and against CBJ. Top recruits want to win, and they want to play for coaches who have shown they can beat top teams and compete for championships. CBJ has a terrible record against top-tier SEC teams, ranked teams and our rivals. It's not hard for other coaches to convince a recruit that wants to win championships that they won't win them at UT.

Low expectations and negativity are everywhere. Even with all this talent and depth, a lot of UT fans question whether we can beat UF, Bama, UGA and aTm. A surprising number of UT fans think Team 120's ceiling is 10-2 or even 9-3-- neither of which is likely to win the SECE.

Last year killed the benefit of the doubt. After three years of buying the pitch, top recruits want to see results.
Should have been in ATL last yr. If big bad CBJ and crew cant do it this yr with these ballers he will never be a consistent champion at UT.

Alot of fans are ok with mediocricy and 2nd place and constant citrus bowls. Sad such a low standard at the 9th winningest bigtime program in the history of CFB

Does ZA lose his job if this kids does indeed sign with Clemson?

I think he shouldve lost his job last year. This plus another bad season as WRs coach and I think you see us go after a new WR and QB coach. The lack of production isn't all Azzani's fault. Dobbs has progressed as a passer but not enough to garner any praises from me.

Its put up or shut up time and it all goes back to the main man, Butch. Win some games and no one will care about this but lose and you have hell to pay.

This year will be a telling year about how our WRs get coached up. So far it has been average I would say. Nothing great. Nothing too bad. But not having a 1000-yard receiver.for a while has sucked and is being used against us I am sure. I do not fault Higgins for thinking about the development aspect. It's a part of football and he is looking at making it to the league. UT has not had that awesome of a passing game since Butch got here. Williams should be good this year. His production within our WR unit this year will be the most telling.

None of them replaced Dooley in the SEC

the WR group has not gotten better since this staff has been here. Every other group has increased production.

Gotta take a hard look at the coach man. Reality sucks

Seriously how do you lose a five star that grew up under the shadow of Neyland stadium. Not just that but all the other in state kids.

I agree, last year should have been at least a division title for Butch.

so youre saying we shouldve gotten rid of CBJ? and do what? hire another coach that will kill our recruiting and god knows what our record last year wouldve been, 4-8? 3-9? im not saying CBJ is a Nick Saban or whatever but I am saying hes made progress and has brought fire back to this program, something I havent seen in my entire lifetime

I was 5 or so when we won the NC, and I didnt get into football til I was 12-ish and ive done nothing but watch this program fall, for us younger fans, CBJ is our savior
