'17' TN ATH Tee Higgins (Clemson commit)

Its pretty simple, until we win and are "in it", we are going to continue to lose top tier talent to other schools who have been at the top... This will be a big year for us.

If I were an opposing coach trying to sway a WR prospect away from UT, I'd point out these stats:

UT passing yards per completion (national rank)
2012: 13.0 (28th)
2013: 10.5 (114th)
2014: 10.4 (115th)
2015: 11.7 (85th)...significant improvement in DeBord's 1st year, but still unimpressive

Last year 46 teams averaged at last 13 yards per completion. If we're not one of them this fall, Azzanni needs to be gone, IMO.

To be fair, Clemson hasn't set the world on fire the past 2 years in this category (92nd in '14, 62nd in '15). But that doesn't change the notion that our passing game has been underwhelming for the past 3 seasons. We've had a ridiculous number of completions that've gone for minimal or even negative yardage and relatively few long passing plays. For an elite WR, there's no glory in yet another 3-yard screen pass.

UT passing plays of 30+ yards
2012: 19 (49th)...Clemson 34 (2nd)
2013: 12 (101st)...Clemson 29 (8th)
2014: 13 (99th)...Clemson 26 (16th)
2015: 16 (77th)...Clemson 34 (8th)

So when a Clemson coach can point out that compared to UT, his team has had over twice as many passing plays of 30+ yards over the past 3 years, that's a pretty powerful selling point.

Unfortunately, recruits from Tennesse are not

Apparently. I grew up in Greenville and have a bunch of Clemson fans among my friends and family. Almost went there myself and always considered them a benign second school to occasionally pull for. Had no idea they could rise up to the level they have and begin dogging us in our own state at recruiting.

i will be activity rooting against them now. It's clear that a healthy Clemson is no good for Tennessee.

I don't blame him for going to Clemson, they have put receivers in the NFL, while we are struggling a to find a passing game.

Oh it's whatever. Most of these kids are bandwagonners just like a lot of these so called fans for other teams are bandwagonners. Only root for teams that's winning which is beyond pathetic. There's no such thing as true fans anymore which is sad.

Clemson is the "it" team right now. Must win 10 or more games next year

He tweeted it with 5 oranges.

Tee is a 5 star...

Said: "From the Tennessee Football Family to Your Family, Happy 4th of July!!! Then #GBO, then there were 5 American flags, then 5 oranges"

Made me think (think - not know) that he expected the announcement to go our way. I could have just been reading into it I guess.

No way Hunter Johnson comes even close to the level Deshaun Watson is at. Always thought he looked like a 3star on tape, maybe a low 4 srar at times. Dont think Clemson will be a playoff team once losing Watson. Regardless, I think this decision has more to do with making it to the NFL than playing in a national championship. Why pass up an opportunity to play in your honetown and take them to a long awauted championship appearance? I think it is becuase the road to the NFL looks much better if playing at Clemson.

Clemson has produced some great WR talent in Bryant, Hopkins, and Watkins as of recent. On top of that, there is no doubt regardless of QB play, Higgins will have a great opportunity to pad his stats playing in the ACC. While I don't like the decision, I can understand it.

Clemson has an easier road to an National Championship year just like how Ohio St. has an easy road to an National Championship. If you switch out Clemson and Tennessee (Conference wise) we'd be getting the same amount of wins as Clemson cause they have so much more talent than anyone in the ACC. Tennessee does have talent believe it or not who could win big in the ACC. You act like Clemson is so good when they can be beat on any given night in the SEC. Especially the likes of Bama, Ole Miss, LSU, UGA. Those teams actually have the same amount of talent as Clemsom.

So I missed no facts at all. If Tennessee was in the ACC like it is in your mythical situation, we would obviously do similar things to what Clemson will do. The funny thing is, that situation is a fairy tale you've made up to support a ridiculous argument.

You're clearly aren't intelligent enough to have this conversation. The only person that has missed facts would be you. The fact that they ARE almost guaranteed 10 wins this year. The fact they killed OU and have a ton of those same starters returning (who we couldn't beat last year). The fact they have a much more prolific passing game. The fact they have the #1 rated QB in '17 while we have no recruit at the QB position. The fact that they have wide outs in the NFL producing while we have no one producing.

Lmao, for everyone who's saying Clemson is a special place, you're dead wrong.

I should have stopped right here and put you on ignore so I wouldn't have to continuously read a made up situation as to why UT is a better school for a receiver, when at the present it isn't.

Butch Jones's seat is now the hottest in the country. He at the very minimum has to make the playoff. Unbelievable. Fence is low.

It's not hot at all because of this, but for a coach whose major victories have come in February, it's a concerning trend.

Yeah he wants to play with Amari and Hunter. Face it, this mess started with Jones going after JG. We get hunters this is all a different story.

It has more to do with the passing game than Hunter. JG is a better athlete and probably has the same type of arm strength as HJ. Don't blame this on the JG pickup. You're just grasping for straws. Truth is...this kid committed to us out of peer pressure. He wants to get out of Oak Ridge.

A good Tennessee is what is best for Tennessee. Has zero to do with a strong conference or anything else. If we win and blowing double digit leads 3 weeks in a row to become a national laughing stock, then that is what will sway recruits.

Higgins going to Clemson is better than Higgins going to Bama or another SEC school we have to play every year.

It was Spurrier that turned Alabama in. And no I'm not a CPF apologist but just correcting the record.

I guess Spurrier made a recording too and turned it in to the NCAA. That was all Fulmer, Bama fans didn't get over it until they hired Saban and started beating the Vols every season.
