'17' TN ATH Tee Higgins (Clemson commit)

No, I dont think you are out of line at all. Tee is a smart kid and Hunter is pressuring him to commit to Clem$on but Tee is not wanting to do that. I know people think CDS is clean but people need to open their eyes quite a bit. Those accusations about Gary getting benefits offered to him was not all untrue

Thanks.

I know the "insert name here" hates us talk gets old, but does anyone else find it at least ironic that he decommited from UT and automatically becomes a 5 star?

Not a coincidence at all.. These pay sites have learned how to use kids as click bait. A high profile decommittment, now considering multiple schools. The bump in ranking will cause much more drama, and costs 247 nothing.. Not to say the kids not worthy.

They're figuring out how to use their ranking system to increase the bottom line basically.

I think we are still in good position here. He just wants to be sure UT is still for him. Ut still leads here.

We need to get Gray or Fant or someone on board in state soon to start help trying to bring everyone together.

That Rogers/Johnson pull on Tee is going to be a battle for a long time and will be tough to beat without some pressure on our side too.

Didn't need that to know we don't have a player like him currently at WR. That's why I didn't understand the reaction by some when he Decommitted.

I am sure there are some Vol fans in Oak Ridge applying some pressure that will only intensify as we get closer to the season.

Same feeling as what I had regarding the Warrior recruitment.

Never worried about him signing elsewhere; I'd believe he is going somewhere only once he sent in a NLI.

Been following recruiting for a long time and I've learned to let it go. If he wants to be at UT in the end he'll be here, otherwise, lets move on.

I agree completely. He is worthy of a top ten status. I also believe if he were still committed to UT he would be on the edge of 5 star status, a la Guarantano.

I say there is a better than 50% chance he signs with UT. 70%, if forced for an exact prediction.

I'd really like to get him back into the fold sooner than later. Hopefully, once the 2017 ball gets rolling (again), he can build some relationships with our commits and feel at home again.

2017 QB is important for WR recruiting. It doesn't matter who is on campus. They want to see who is in their class, because they will always envision that guy as the guy who is going to be throwing to them.

Equally important is seeing the passing game improve this season on the field. Big seasons out of Preston and Malone are needed to sell the WR position at UT again.

It wouldn't suprise me if they talked him into it. Pay sites bargain with kids all the time and promise bumps if they drag out recruitment.

FWIW- 247 displays Clemson as 'warmer' and Tennessee as "warm". Not sure how relevant that is with almost a year left till national signing day, but Clemson still worries me.

I hope he just wants to play the recruiting game.UT needs to lock up the state this upcoming cycle don't know how many receivers they will sign but amari, fant, tee and j stevens should be four they go after hardest.

man Butch has to get this kid and the Murfreesboro kid We gotta get rockin' for '17, this is a big year for us to make a statement in state.

Underclassman Eval

STRENGTHS: Ideal height and length. Possesses an explosive first step and has the speed to run away from defenders. Finds soft spots in zone and effectively uses double moves to separate in man. Has strong hands and is fearless going across the middle. Huge rezone weapon. Very flexible agility. Very willing and capable blocker.

AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: Needs to add serious bulk to his ample frame. Lacks the wiggle to make people miss in tight space. Could benefit from an expanded route running tree.

BOTTOM LINE: Higgins is a tall, fast wide receiver with lots of upside. Once, he adds bulk and functional strength, we feel he has the potential to stretch the field and become a weapon in the redzone at the next level. Reminds us of Justin Hunter.
