'17' TN ATH Tee Higgins (Clemson commit)

Crappabama is a run first, second and third offense. And they don't have great QBs either. They do get good ones, and get the most out of them. They have had no trouble ever in recruiting great WRs and piling them up like cordwood.

You're not thinking logically. Sure, Bama has a run first philosophy. But they've also had a string of highly productive and successful WRs they've sent to the league since Saban came to town (including arguably two of the top 5 WRs the SEC has seen in the past decade in Cooper and Julio).

We haven't done that since Butch came to town. If North had lived up to his potential, been a 1st or 2nd round draft pick and Malone looked to be on the same trajectory, we'd have a much easier time selling WRs on coming to UT right now.

I believe that's what Preston Williams can be for us.

I hope so. We need Malone to have a big year too though. Big time WR recruits need to see that their talents won't be wasted here. At this point, I'm hoping to see Malone have a Meachem like Jr year and jump to the draft early (even if that may be detrimental to the WR corps in the short term).

So honestly, you think Butch's reluctance to throw is because our player's don't know routes or timing? If ZA really cannot coach, why would he still be here...you saw what CBJ did with Jancek....why wouldn't he get rid of ZA too??

I happen to think Butch thinks he can win without throwing downfield...we'll find out soon enough! GBO

Rumor is Janek was fired for some off the field sexual stuff. I think he was bringing young coeds to official functions or something. Basically as long as Azzani doesn't embarrass the program off the field he will stay no matter how bad he is

As the offensive line improved, both Malone and Williams had moments where they shined. I have no doubt we will see more of that in 2016.

I get that, but Malone needs gumption, and who knows what North's deal was for sure. He could have been the difference, but as mediocre as Dobbs has been at passing consistently, and the OL at pass blocking consistently. I don't know if any of the WRs could have made a lot of difference to this point. What kills me is that recruits don't look at those parameters and understand that Butch had to totally rebuild a devastated program. It takes time. Dumbo didn't rebuild Clenson overnight either. How come nobody holds the stink bombs they had through those years over his head?

Dabo's "stink bombs" are much farther in the past than ours. They haven't won less than 10 games since 2010. And in that time, they've put multiple players (especially WRs) into the NFL. It's worth noting that a lot of the classes that got them to where they are now looked about like our 2016 class, too. Granted, their conference is more forgiving than UT's.

They're on top right now. You've just got to hope that our on the field product will thrive in 2016 and 2017 so that our recruiting will as well. That's what it will come down to.

Ouch. This guy must have misled a bunch of people around UT.

This is a strike against all the UT recruiting insiders. Doubt he flips again.

Definitive proof CBJ needs to win the east this fall and win some big games.

LOL @ Vols fans and there mesely expectations.

If you think just winning the east is enough you are out of your mind.

Only winning the SEC title and making the playoffs will legitimize this program to the point where we can take on the likes of Clemson in recruiting.

Winning a weak division proves nothing.

It does appear that our in state talent has no natural affinity for our state school. It seems for years out in state guys could care less to play for the orange.

Most of these kids from the 2017 class were born in 1999.

By the time they became conscious in 2005, Tennessee was beginning it's downward slope. For their entire adolescence the program has been a 5-7 laughing stock on the same level as Vanderbilt and Kentucky.

Why would they have any affinity for the home state school?

Clemson will crush Auburn.

Every year college football offers surprises. I wouldn't speak so fast. Just last year at this time people were giving Auburn a spot in the playoffs.

Based on a 4 year recruiting average, Auburn has more talent. They're at home. And they'll have people telling them for months they're gonna get crushed.

I have Auburn winning that game.

The same thing can be said about Clemson winning in their weak conference.

I usually don't let myself get caught up in recruiting mishaps because there are a lot of talented kids out there, but this one hurts....bad.

No lie.

The kid will be an NFL superstar.

Hopefully this serves as a wake up call for Butch. Slogans aren't enough anymore. Its about RESULTS.

Show some killer instinct and beat teams when you are up double digits.

Coach Doug Mathews said Tee was a must get last show. I wonder how he will spin this one?:)

No way to spin it.

This kid will be an all-conference caliber WR the second he steps on campus. An all-american by year 2. And a top 10 pick in the 2020 NFL draft.

This is a monumental loss.

The only good is it opens Butch Jones eyes. And he realises slogans aren't enough. People want results. If you want to compete with the big boys you better be winning SEC titles and making the playoffs. Nothing less will suffice.

Negative recruiting from our own fan base cost us this one. I guarantee you wont ever see one post on an Alabama board saying "well i cant blame him, auburn has had more success with dual threat qbs".

Changing the culture within the program is hard as hell when our fans have an inferiority complex. True fans dont worry about ecred or being unbiased. They offer the team support and believe in them.

This post needs to be quoted a millon times.

Lotta weak minded fans around here. They seem not realise fan is short for FANATIC.

If you aint going hard for everything Tennessee, you aint a fanatic.

Dude you really need to stop making predictions. They always fail.

No. In your mind if we're not kissing Dobb's ass every day like you are, we're not considered real fans. You're an obsessive weird minded Dobbs fan whose predictions are silly and downright outrageous.

Yeah he wants to play with Amari and Hunter. Face it, this mess started with Jones going after JG. We get hunters this is all a different story.

Guarantano will be much better than HJ.

And 5* WRs are a dime a dozen. Game changing QBs change programs. Look no further than what Watson has done for Clemson.

I'll take JG over HJ a million times over even if you told me it'll also cost us Tee Higgins.

Eh, what is troubling here is that I think Tee does have an affinity for his home state school which is why he committed to us in the first place last August and why he looked like a hard commit at the time. This decision looks like a combination of a flavor of the month (which can dissipate) and business decision (which could be harder to fight) - meaning he simply thinks it's in the best interest of his football future to play elsewhere. There is the Amari x factor but I don't think that is what is behind this. He has friends at UT as well. We need our WR's to step up big this year on top of winning the SEC East to have something more to sell.

And what's not true? We are all UT fans, but lets tell it like it is.

The point isn't truth or lies. It whether you are a fan or not.

Sorry but telling It like it is aint what a FANATIC does.

And thats what being a fan is. Being a FANATIC.

If you think Clemson is a better place for recruits to go than Tennessee then you aint a fan.
