'17 MS RB Cam Akers (FSU commit 12/27)

Nothing to wonder about. They evaluate and see something they like. In some cases the kids get upgraded and the staff look like geniuses. In other cases they don't get upgraded but end up playing well, and again, the staff look like geniuses. And in other cases still, the players don't develop and get passed over or released from the team. No mystery, just a staff that is confident in their ability to find the best talent we can recruit. And it is far easier to recruit a 3 star that you believe will end up performing like a 4 or 5 star, than it is to recruit a 4 or 5 star.

The thing to wonder about is which case a lowly rated kid we take early will fall into come January/February.

I don't know about you but I watched Ohio State's spring game and have followed some of the preliminary 2-deep discussion on their message boards.

If you look at that, you'll notice that a lot of their 2015 players (who were part of a lower rated class) are passing up the 2014 kids on the early depth chart.

I think they simply missed with a lot from that class. And I think you SEVERLY underrate our 2014 class. It should produce more NFL players than almost every other teams 2014 class.

Sometimes higher rank doesn't translate to better players. 2014 is proof of that.

I'm not underestimating anything. I'm just explaining why our 14 class has been producing, and theirs hasn't. Moving forward, we'll see if your prediction bears out. Our 14 class is very good. I'm not denying that.

This got me to thinking.
Osu 3*s (enrollees starting 2013 through current commits)
3,6,10,5,0
Bammer 3*s (enrollees starting 2013 through current commits)
7,3,4,6,1

I left off specialists (K,P,LS) schollies. 2 of the 3* on osu have left the team and I expect a couple from 2015 will leave after this season. Not sure about bammers.

Both schools as far as I can tell have been getting solid contributions from several of those guys (good evaluations I suppose).

I agree with you and I'm actually surprised by it.

Cartoon question marks didn't form over your head when he blustered about watching a SPRING GAME and buy that he could even tell which class was which for each player? Much less evaluate any type of performance with the uneven milliseconds doled out in those glorified exhibition fan showcases? Dude trolls anyone who believes his schtick. HUDL and YouTube film Gil Brandt.

You'll learn soon enough.

First of all there are other ratings. 247 isn't the only one. And even if you decide the composite ratings are sort of a consensus, then we had 16 4* recruits while Ohio State had 15 4* and 1 5* recruit.

I wouldn't call that "hands down better."

Plus if we look at performance so far, our 2014 class runs circles around Ohio State. We've produced significantly more impact players.

I apologize if you are going off of another site. I use the composite so that's what I was going off of. Average star rating (not counting 8 walk ons) and overall rank is what I was counting.

Very little of osu's 2014 class has played because the 2013 class was responsible for this year's nfl draft for osu. There will be several impact players from osu's 14 class this year.

The fact that some teams do it in a better conference doesn't change the fact OSU has done it it with a MUCH easier schedule.

Of course they have. The last few years have been pretty bad ooc for osu but they are getting back into the swing of things starting this year.

You don't play them until the playoffs. We play them in the regular season.

Ok, that was awesome. But I would still argue that it's harder to play bama for all of the marbles than during the season. :p

Here's what going to happen... Meyer is going to be beat by MSU 2 out of 3 years before he gets frustrated and feigns health problems so he can quit again. After Meyer quits Ohio State will slide into the same "post great coach" problem that everyone else does. When OSU goes 6-6 three years in a row, people like you will stop trying to associate OSU's dominance with your own personal identity. There will be no coattails to ride on.

The upside of this is that people may be able to stand being around you enough for you to be able to develop some meaningful personal relationships... Take that with a grain of salt though, I'm being real optimistic.

Man. You are angry, and mean.

No it's not. Stop.

Giving saban and Kirby a month to prepare?

Whatever, you're entitled to your opinion. They are a rival of tenn, so maybe they are up for that game more than a playoff game. I didn't say IT'S WAY HARDER TO PLAY THEM IN THE PLAYOFF!!

I simply said I would argue that it's harder.

You'd argue with a lot of things

Kirby and Saban have all year, year after year, after year, etc. To prepare for Tennessee and every other is on their home turf rather than your one time on a neutral field.

You can argue it all you want but you'll be wrong. It's asinine to think otherwise

Both sides make a good point....

Yes I would think it would be a tougher game if you gave Saban a month to prepare. He's the goat for a reason plain and simple.

But also we are consistently playing tougher competition week in and week out and it really isn't even close.
