Looks like he is improving his 40 time. His quickness and acceleration are good inside 20 yards. He has really good balance, change of direction and is a physical presence. Looks like a perfect fit for the offense.

I think we get this kid. Visits this weekend, and then he and his family visiting the spring game a couple weeks from now. I think he commits after he sees 80,000 at a spring game, and is just in complete awe! Lol. Get this kid and we are going to get the ball rolling in this recruiting class big time!

I wish that I could agree. He was only in town because of the 7 on 7. I don't think that attendance numbers at the spring game will push him to commit early and most of the coveted players delay ther commitment in order to "enjoy the process". I hope that you are right and we land this kid but I don't think that it will be anytime soon. JMO

He was in town for the 7 0n 7 tournament but met with the Vols offensive staff to get from them exactly how they thought he would fit into the offense. That's a little more than a casual visit.

There's no doubt that they talked about football while he was here, I'm not questioning that.

Sounds very promising. Akers, Chandler and Hayden would be a great, dynamic trio of running backs who all have different skill sets.

Nice. Especially with Akers planning to EE. Would be huge to have him here on campus next spring to get the ball rolling since we'll be losing somethings like 80-90% of our rushing production.

Akers and Gray would be a very successful RB haul. While everyone would love to have the highest ranked possible guys, I'm convinced that any high caliber running back will be very successful in this system. Gray and Akers would eat in this system with their skill sets.

*edit: Appears Gray isn't being recruited as a running back.

Pretty sure Gray is being looked at as an OLB.

I do think Akers and Chandler would compliment each other really well if we can bring them both in.

If Kelly is as good as many writers have been making him out to be, then he could potentially jump to the NFL after a year in a feature role in 2017. Hopefully we can get those two to in to compete with CFA to be the feature guy in 2018.

Pulling this guy will be a very impressive recruiting coup for Butch. A little preview of what's to come on the recruiting trail once Butch has established himself as a top SEC coach who puts guys in the league.

New 247 article: The top-100 running back from Clinton (Miss.) High School made a brief visit to Tennessee less than two weeks ago and is planning to visit the Vols again for the Orange and White Game on April 16, and sources close to his recruitment have told GoVols247 that Tennessee has emerged as one of the favorites to land him.
But sources have indicated that Akers has expressed a willingness — and perhaps even a desire — to attend an out-of-state school, and at least one source suggested that Tennessee and Ohio State currently might be in the best shape with him. The Buckeyes hosted him on one of his most recent visits in early March.
Akers, who’s planning to be an early enrollee, has been to Tennessee’s campus a few times over the past 18 months. He has developed a strong relationship with Vols running backs coach Robert Gillespie, a fellow Mississippi native, and sources said he’s intrigued by the possible opportunity to compete for significant playing time right away next year at Tennessee.
While Akers isn’t expected to make a final decision soon, Tennessee undoubtedly is in good shape with the nation’s No. 35 overall prospect and No. 3 running back in the 247Sports Composite. The Vols’ upcoming spring game will give them another chance to impress Akers and his family, and while he’s still planning to visit several other schools, Tennessee is expected to remain a strong contender for him throughout his recruitment.

Guys don't forget about Hayden as well. A RB class of Akers, Chandler, and Hayden, or just 2/3 of hayden and Chandler or Hayden and Akers. I'm pretty sure Hayden is a Tennessee lock. Any of those running back hauls will be huge!
