I haven't seen Najee's film so I can't comment but man Derrick Green looked horrible in his all star game. Was watching with my at the time 9 year old son and neither of us could figure out what the hype was about. I thought Henry looked like a monster in that same game. Still not sure about his pro career. Could be ok with a good line but to be fair I didn't think Eddie George was gonna be any good in the NFL so what do I know?

Well, George became more of the 3-4 yards and a cloud of dust back in the pros. I don't know that Henry is that type of runner stylistically. His runs either seemed to be 40 yarders through gaping holes or 1 yard gains.

Yea, he is more of a home run threat but I don't think he is a pile mover like Eddie was.

Akers' reason for coming to Knoxville this weekend isn't to be at Tennessee. Instead, it's to compete with his 7-on-7 team. I believe they will try to make it on campus one day this weekend, but with Easter on Sunday and teams trying to get back home for Sunday I'm trying to find out if that's going to happen.

Notes from Volunteer Classic 7 on 7...


"really cool thing for Knoxville to have. Teams from all over the Southeast (Misssissippi, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky) and teams from Indianapolis and Virginia made it in as well.

As for news from the event, Cam Akers was on campus last night after his games finished and enjoyed getting to catch up with the Tennessee staff. He will be back on campus for the Orange & White Game on April 16 with his family so that's a pretty strong development. As we mentioned in the War Room, Georgia and Ohio State are players in there as well, but he really likes the opportunity Tennessee will likely have with Kamara and Hurd likely to be gone after this upcoming season.

As for Akers on the field, he's obviously not a receiver but he caught the ball really well. He made a great one-handed catch while falling the opposite direction of where the ball was thrown. I was certainly impressed with him."

“It was good to be able to communicate with the coaches like coach (Robert) Gillespie and coach (Mike) Debord and coach (Butch) Jones. They made me feel at home but also we talked some football, too. It was good to be back on campus and be around everybody. It’s a good family environment at Tennessee and it would be a good situation for me.”

“The situation has definitely caught my eye with Hurd and Kamara probably leaving. That’s definitely caught my eye, it’s a big thing,” Akers said.

Akers plans to graduate high school in December and likes the idea of competing for a starting spot next spring.

“(Early playing time) will definitely play into the thought process,” Akers said. “With me being an early enrollee and being able to learn the playbook and get spring practice under my belt and potentially competition for a starting spot with both of them leaving is a big deal.”

Cam, the opportunity to be the next star RB is very very high. Also TN should be serious contenders for the East from this point forward.

Your services are very much needed. Plenty of ballers all around the roster
