'17 MS RB Cam Akers (FSU commit 12/27)

Just curious because I haven't been keeping up with the thread as well as I should, but what recent indicators or comments has he made to make us believe that we're in the top two. Not saying y'all are wrong, just curious.

It was thought he was an OSU FSU lean with UT in third but with OSU out UT would have to be up there with FSU.

I do too. He's planning to be in Knoxville 12/3 weekend for an OV, along with Trey Smith. If they both show that has to be a good sign.

Not that I do not believe you, but I missed the fact that he is planning a 12/3 OV. I knew Trey Smith would be in Knoxville either 12/3 or 12/10. If there is a silver lining to Florida winning on Saturday, it is that we get to host Smith prior to his commitment announcement.

Yep, per Fortenberry Akers is planning to OV at UT 12/3, same weekend as Smith.

If it is actually between us and FSU, he may be paying close attention to the LSU situation. If Jimbo jumps , LSU may take FSU's spot.

Jimbos son is terminally ill and he separated from his wife so I think its unlikely he leaves his son to go to LSU. Also I saw yesterday that because of not going to SEC championship game now trey smith and possibly akers will be here together that weekend. Both are early enrolles & it could be huge to get the last visit before committing.

Edit:just saw that i was swansoned, jimmy hyams sent me his regards

Cancelled trips to OSU and Michigan, so that leaves LSU, UT, Ole Miss

Well, he cancelled his OSU trip to OV to Ole Miss this weekend. Never trust a rebel bear...

I think that has as much to do with not really wanting to go to OSU (they are pretty deep at RB) as it is an affinity for Ole Miss. Paying respect to the home state school IMO.

It would be nice if those sanctions against Ole Miss would just hurry up and kick in :)

All the radio stations down here in MS, albeit they're a bit biased, seem to think there will be very little done in terms of sanctions. The harshest I've heard is loss of scholarships.

Guys I know this class is not as great as the classes of the past, but you add in Trey Smith a five star, cam Akers a five star, Lamont wade a four star, and Ty Chandler probably being bumped to a five star. You do all this and this class is spectacular!

Thats a whole lot of what ifs in there. I'll take it if it happens though :)
