Not seeing any mention of that. LSU is trying hard to flip Allen from Bama but I don't think they can. They're also trying to flip Jacob Phillips from OU and he is going to take an OV to LSU. LSU seems to have a fairly decent chance of flipping Phillips.

They got him to delay a commitment to us for a visit. Forgot the coach, but he indicated they would offer. Met with Ogre who basically told him he was a backup plan. He got pretty pissed and committed to us almost immediately. Even without the EE, they'd be the last team we'd lose him to.

So LSU can come in late and maybe flip Phillips, yet the in-state school can't apologize and tell the kid we got bad info from your prior coach and messed up not recruiting him? Sounds about right for TN and in-state recruits.

I'm not familiar with Phillips or what's gone on with him beyond what I posted. I have no idea what Phillips' top criteria are for choosing where he wants to play. OU is consitently competing for championships. Outlook for the program, HC & DC may be big for him. If so, he may have made it clear to Butch that there was no point in continuing to recruit him. I'm just speculating though. My point is, Butch shouldn't waste time chasing a recruit if he seriously doubts there's a decent chance of landing him.

From what I remember about Phillips was there was some people close to him talking negative about Tennessee and I think butch slow played him because he didn't like his size

Opposite. Previous HC told Tennessee that he wasn't worth their time. Tennessee believed it. Turns out Tennessee was fed lies by that HC.

I'm pretty sure that at some point the staff saw him as a DE and that hurt his recruitment a bit too.

You are right! He is looking forward to next years game when we play LSU! He is no LSU fan.

Even though I'm still not confident we would have beat Vandy, but **** LSU. Florida straight up punked them at home
