'16 TN LB Daniel Bituli (UT commit 7/18/15)

De1, so in your opinion, this guy is not a take, but CBJ thinks otherwise?

They beating East with their qb Isiah Upton. He actually got injured during that game, and didn't play the 2nd half. NCS could have beat Pearl this year but not Hillsboro.

1st let me start by saying i absolutely despise the coaching and structure of the PC football program, but if they played NCS they'd run the score up on NCS so bad it would be funny. 2nd as i said and you confirmed they lost to NCS w/o Upton who was hurt And he was all East had point blank period. NCS probably would struggle with Maplewood

Kid does not have 50% of the fluidity that Daniel Brooks had coming out of hs. Somebody might want to pull up his film vs Bituli. No comparison at all. Brooks had an anger issue and all he did was knock ppl out while he was at UT before going to JSU and becoming a star for them. Some ppl hv the talent but hv to grow up and mature mentally. Brooks is now a sheriff and in the military in or around Knoxville and comes to Nashville frequently. Look up his film ppl he was an absolute stud

I saw Brooks play several times in HS. He deserved every bit of that 5 star ranking. He was such a beast and could go sideline to sideline. During a playoff game, all you heard was Daniel Brooks with the tackle and on and on. Unfortunately he was rough around the edges off the field and didn't know how to turn that switch off. He really did mean well especially with his friends but he was almost too loyal. Almost all of his fights were in retaliation of what happened to someone he was close to. When he destroyed anything that moved in that frat house it was because they jumped Bo Hardegree whose family took him in.

Just because Bituli plays at a small school doesn't mean he doesn't have the talent, the kids can't help what school they are at.

Never said he wasn't a take @ all. I just said he was nothing special. Somebody compared him to Daniel Brooks and that's not even close. Alsobforbthe record Thig loves him and I've spoken the same words to him.

You completely misunderstood my post. I was comparing him to Brooks in the sense that he has a very high 'ranking' and physically he looks the part. But that once he gets to UT we might not see much production from him. And then fans will blame the coaches for 4 years because he is not a superstar and they will reference his high ranking and physical attributes. IMO, Bituli looks exactly like a D1 stud when he is standing in his pads waiting on the opening kickoff. But then once they snap the ball he does not stand out as anything special.

Nothing special? Shoot. I know that rankings aren't everything, but he is a borderline top 100 recruit, and that's across the board. Unless by special you just mean "first round talent" I'd be interested in hearing why everybody else is wrong about him.

Danny finished 5th in the A-AA state wrestling finals in the heaviest weight classification. You have to be physical to compete at a high level in that. Will see if it translates to the field this next season.

That's surprising that he finished that low in the state's smallest classification. Most of the recent FBS recruits have been crushing everyone in the larger classification. And the difficulty difference between the classifications is pretty large imo. Not a big deal I guess, maybe he just doesn't know how to knock the fat guys over.

A top 100 type of football talent should have been able to join the team 1 week prior to the state tournament and finished top 3 at worst....very suspect for this guy.

Wrestling is more about technique, speed, and leverage than just pure size and strength.

Exactly.

The Pigeon Forge coach is a friend of mine. Danny beat his guy for 6th. He's legit, it's a second sport for him to help his football career.

Agreed. I remember back in 2005, Baylor's heavyweight was a senior defensive lineman (Wofford commit) who had never wrestled before then. After football ended, he moved right into wrestling in the large school division, and barely lost in the state finals to the returning champ. His athleticism was too much for anyone to handle, except the state champ, who also played football in college I believe.

An FBS-level talent should breeze through the A-AA state tournament. Remember, JR pinned everyone when he was wrestling in the tougher division at Ensworth. I have seen a lot of Tennessee HS wrestling, and its just a surprising result for an athlete of his caliber. We have been hearing reports that he is a Tarzan in the weight room but a Jane on the field, maybe there's some truth to those claims. FWIW

He had only started wrestling 2 weeks prior to the state tournament, for him to medal is impressive.
