Appears to be at least 6-7...

Most recruiting services list Abebayo, a power forward, at 6-foot-8 and 235 pounds. In Concord for the Cannon Classic last weekend, Abebayo was happy to report that he’s grown.

“I’m 6-10, man,” he said with a grin.

“I’m 6-8,” High Point Christian coach Brandon Clifford said, “and he’s an inch and a half taller than me. So he’s closer to 6-10.”

Adebayo...had a game-high 23 points, but did not overwhelm Williams, Providence Day’s 6-foot, 7-inch big man. Abedayo was rejected twice by Williams who scored 13 points and was one of five Chargers players in double figures.

“Edrice (Adebayo) is tough,” said Providence Day coach Brian Fields. “He may easily be one of the top three high school players we have ever seen. Grant is fearless too and I thought he played very strong. He got him in foul trouble early; got in his head and we wanted to make him a jump shooter tonight. Grant’s a warrior, a winner.”

Providence Day and Grant Williams defeated defending state champion Greensboro Day tonight 55-50. He is making strides this kid. He has helped lead Providence Day to a national ranking with wins over High Point, 22ft Academy (who beat Oak Hill early this season) and Greensboro Day. Looking forward to his match-up against Fulkerson in January.

Think we got a steal with this kid. Playing terrific against top level players.

Agreed. Yes, height is important but as cliche as it sounds, sometimes heart is more important. This kid has it in spades. Plays incredibly hard and wills his team to wins. Love that.

DeJuan Blair is a 6'6" power forward who has made a career out of being a NBA player, it can definitely be done. The positive thing I take is that Williams has known from playing EYBL he's undersized, so he has developed his game with that knowledge. It's easy for a 6'6" public school kid to still bully most opponents every night, get to college and realize that's not gonna work, Williams has develop a good handle, a developing perimeter shot, and is a savy/crafty player who finds ways to get his shot up.

DeJaun Blair, is a great comparison. He was GREAT at Pittsburgh. On top of that, he had no meniscuses.

According to MaxPreps, Grant Williams Providence Day team is currently ranked #1 in North Carolina. Not too shabby.

Actually has no ACLs which is even more ridiculous.

DeJuan Blair weighed 260 pounds and was a top 40 composite prospect in the country.

He was recruited by schools like Pitt, Florida, Indiana, Marquette, Wake, Tennessee (in the middle of year, 3 sweet 16, 1 Elite 8, NCAA run.

They are both short post guys, but the comparison of high school careers isn't close right now.

That's putting in work right there. Do you think if he was 6'8-6'9 instead of 6'5-6'6 he'd be rated higher? Just curious

Even I - king of the skeptics - think that. At 6-8 or 6-9, he'd be top 100 easy. Now, he just turned 17, so I suppose there is an opportunity to grow a bit. As of now, he's kind of in the same mold as Admiral - to me. In the current state of our roster, a guy like Admiral can contribute. When you get the roster where it needs to be, those guys are the 9th or 10th players in the rotation.

Thanks. I tend to agree. From the little bit of tape I've saw on Williams, the only areas he may be better than Admiral are ball handling and assists.(looked like he had great vision for a "big".

But on the other hand the Admirals shot looked more developed. So pretty good comparison.

Glad he's a Vol. Think we snagged a very under rated player with him. Seems to be a very hard worker with a good understanding of the game unlike some we've seen over the past year or so. Can't wait to see him in orange.

I see less Blair and more Damion James in his game.

That worked out pretty well for Barnes.
