'16 NJ QB Jarrett Guarantano (Vols commit 4/15/2015)

It was JMO. In Dobbs HS film, he didn't really blow by too many people. He had several nice runs though. JG damn near looks like a sprinter on a few of those runs.

It was just tape comparison. I mean, I could be wrong. I would guess that JG could run a 40 around the high 4.5s or low 4.6s. Dobbs is smooth and fluid. JG just striked me as a faster player. His acceleration is really good. Looks like he hits full speed around his 3rd step.

But to answer your question, it was just my opinion. I should have put "he looks faster than Dobbs" instead of making it sound like a definitive statement.

Dobbs' HS film was straight fire. He looked like the next Manziel on some of those runs.

Similar play from Dobbs (o/w game). 1:10 mark.

If you compare those 2 plays and still don't see it, I give up. I understand one is vs our D, one is high school. But just look at how ground is being covered. JG is wide open. Dobbs is more of a glider/rambling runner.

Compared both.....you should definitely give up

That's fine. Hindsight is a SOB.

You'll see.

Hey, I hope we sign JG and he runs a 3.75 40 and doesn't get tackled for 4 straight years. Honest to GOD. I pray that if he signs with us he's the next coming of Marcus Mariota and becomes our first heisman trophy winner.

Perhaps he'll sign with us and we'll get spring practice video of the qbs 100 yd running sprints and he'll dust Dobbs by 10 yds like you suspect. I'm just telling you that, IMHO, there's just no way to definitively state that JG is faster than Dobbs based on the video we've seen of both.

We disagree on this topic, no worries. Where I do agree with you is hoping like hell he's our QB commit for the 2016 class.

I think this guy has been a Vol for a while, or at least he's been very high on UT for some time. Kendall's commitment may have opened up the door for other schools, but the de-commitment may have really put UT right back in the driver's seat.

I'd say they will both be invited to the NFL combine at some point, but then again even official 40 times wouldn't convince some people.

Trust me, if Guarantano gets officially/laser timed at say 4.5 and Dobbs is officially/laser timed at say 4.6, I'll have zero problem saying that he is definitively faster than Dobbs because I'll actually have evidence to prove it. Same goes for a footrace between the two. As a matter of fact, if I saw them both take reps in a scrimmage or game vs the same team as a Tennessee QB, I'm very confident I would form an opinion about who is faster.

But watching film of one playing vs HighSchool kids and one playing vs SEC competition? Or just taking the word of someone watching film who says "yep, no doubt about it, it's not even close, don't know why in the world you can't see it".......
No way, not when they're both just slicing through the defense with excellent quickness and speed.

So in about 6 years we can stop worrying about this? :)

I think Rutgers is the bigger threat. Crazy as that sounds.

Rutgers legacy, IIRC. This is so predictable, plan A decommits, plan B commits and he automatically is a better prospect, better arm, better legs, better football IQ, better leader, etc.

Didn't want A anyway, he can kick rocks! lol

Or, lots of people like to Plan B better than plan a but willing to except plan a because it is a very good choice. However, plan a decided to keep taking visits so Plan B was continually recruited and here we are.
