'16 NC QB Austin Kendall (former UT commit)

Yeah, I heard that he and Butch spend at least an hour or more every day going over recruiting and scouting. Seems like he's the #1 guy in the background letting CBJ know who to go after.

We fans know so little as to what truly goes on. Few people on this earth could do what Butch jones is doing for this program.

Bottom line is Vols are still in the mix for some great 2016 QBs. I haven't watched much of the NJ Qb, but people are saying he's even better than Kendall. Either way, UK desperately needs a guy like Kendall to flip, and maybe grab another. UT can handle losing him and adding another even higher rated recruit, but there's no denying Austin has a lot of talent.

JG could very well be a better QB. I took a look at stats for both as someone else mentioned JG's earlier. Yes, I know stats don't tell the whole story. This is their past 2 seasons.

JG- 127 of 233 for 1479 yards. 11TDs, 12INTs.

AK- 419 of 693 for 6139 yards. 69TDs, 21INTs.

Could not find rushing stats for JG. Kendall rushed for right at 500 yards in 2014.

TIFWIW

Yeah I saw someone in JG's thread question the stats and what they mean. Like you, I don't look much at numbers or stars, but offers/opinions/etc for some indication on a recruit. Will be interesting to see how they rise/fall in rankings as we continue on.

I ALWAYS look at the numbers. LOL

In the past I looked a lot at offer lists. Not so much any more. UT extends 250-300 offers a year. A lot of times to recruits they have no intention of ever taking. Looking at UKs offers, I'd bet they do a lot of the same. Both schools have been way out front offer wise the last couple years compared to other schools.

Its great to point at an offer and say "hey look". If it's not committable, it doesn't mean much of anything Imo.

JG: 107 carries for 258 yards (2.4 ypc) & 4 TDs
AK: 139 for 519 yards (3.7 ypc) & 9 TDs

Guarantano will still need to come back 100% from the broken wrist on his throwing arm. IMO, the only advantage he has over Kendall is 2" in height.

Thanks for the info. Honestly with him throwing it a lot less I expected Guarantano's rushing numbers to be a lot higher.

FWIW, Kendall's average QB rating last year was a 108.3 while Guarantano's was a 73.2, and Kendall had a higher rating in 9 games than Guarantano's single-best effort (101.7).

That said, there's no doubt that Waxhaw played a much weaker schedule than Bergen Catholic last year. If you give any merit to MaxPreps' rankings, Waxhaw's highest-ranked opponent was 1250th nationally while BC's lowest-ranked opponent was 800th. They also played teams ranked 3rd, 15th, 24th & 90th nationally.

Deserves a bump in case someone missed this, and a BOOM!!

GFW, can you expound on a thing or two, outside of what we see, that Butch is doing for this program?

I take Kendall over JG everyday. watching the video, read IMO, JG is quicker on the run and quicker to run, while Kendall seems more settled and is timing the runs rather than the scramble drill of JG. also while JG can sling it down field Kendall can too and is better on the other routes. I would rather take the guy hitting 80-90% on the short to intermediate and 30-40% long than the guy hitting 70-80% short to intermediate and 40-50% long. (percentages made up obviously)

On Rivals he is the 28th ranked player in the country.

Ya got to understand how this works on here. Yesterday he was rated the 28th best player in the class on Rivals. We'll go with that.

Then Fort said he was looking around.

Today we'll go with whichever site has other UT QB options rated higher.

JG or TO higher on Scout, 247? We'll go with that.

LOL

We'll land a high caliber QB because Butch is relentless and a closer...rankings are going to shift like crazy until the kids camp. Should have our commitment solid by then.

I remember reading something similar to that during the 2014 class and QB recruiting. Maybe 2016 plays out differently. We'll see. Long way to go.

After we missed on Cornwell, there was no uncommitted QB that Butch was really keen on IMO...he barely kicked the tires on McClellan. We're in a different place I'm sure you'll admit, than before the 2013 season...we're on these QBs and developing relationships around their freshman and sophomore season and aren't in token top fives...you worry too much, but never change old pal! :eek:k:
