'16 NC QB Austin Kendall (former UT commit)

USC at the top of their run, piled up five star QBs like cordwood...sometimes three a class...then they'd recruit and sign the best one the next year...I'm sure the recruits were aware of their roster...also kids appreciate rosters being cleared for them. :)

I wasn't familiar with USCs QB recruiting so I looked. Going back to 1999(that's as far back as services show) they have never taken 3 QBs in a class. 1999-2015 they have taken 2 in a class just 3 times. 9 times they signed 1. 5 classes they didn't take a QB. Oddly enough, always after taking 2 the previous year.

Guess them not transferring allowed them to pile up...got you to research something huh? Were they ever down to one scholarship QB during that span?

Is the UK site, at all, objective and rational? I really don't know.

I don't really know either. The thread I saw was started by someone saying info has been leaked regarding something big. Most of the posters assuming its in regards to Kendall and talking about the UK QB situation and what it means for the future.

You said it was common practice for them. I just figured I'd look for myself.

As for who stuck around or bailed, I have no idea. Obviously not over signing the position points to their QBs being content with sticking around.

Roster was always stocked with highly rated QBs...only one could play. Another 5 star, Mitch Mustain transferred in from Arkansas as Mark Sanchez was taking over...Matt Barkley didn't care...signed anyway...transfers don't factor in deception techniques I assume?

Flipping to UK just doesn't seem smart in do many ways. He would sit behind Dobbs for one year here, then he could compete for the job. It is very possible, likely even, that he would have to sit behind Barker for three.

Agreed. I don't know why he'd be afraid of any in the incoming freshman. The staff had no choice but to take that many with only 1 returning QB on the entire roster.

By his sophomore year the job would be his for the taking. UK just makes no sense. Surely there are much better programs that he would consider compared to them.

Don't count out sheriron Jones, he's a smart kid and he is a very good athlete with accuracy and a strong arm. Jones will be a starter at some point with tennessee.

I question anyone's intelligence that has major offers elsewhere and commits to UK. Especially a QB whose success at the college level is largely connected to the talent surrounding him.

The guy I talked to said the info was from Justin Rowland on rivals premium site for UK.

He didn't say he was flipping but that UK felt like they had a chance.

Lol! Every school recruiting him has "a chance" until he signs his name on the LOI.

That's assuming Barker doesn't get kicked off the program long before. Kid hasn't been able to stay out of trouble so far. The school's already had to lock down once due to him and his buddies running around campus with air pistols, and now the ongoing investigation into the bar fight where allegedly he and a couple of others beat up an EKU football player. Barker may have the same knack for attracting trouble as Tyler Bray.

I agree. I think he easily has the most upside of the 3 QB's in the 2015 class. Big fan of Sheriron Jones.

Who knows. Adding the 3rd QB in the last class may have UT struggling to get a QB to stick in 2016. Kind of like they struggled in 2014 after taking 2 in 2013.

Alright I'll paraphrase what Rivals said.

They said that Kentucky's chances have improved in the recent weeks and their new offensive coordinator hire has helped. "Don't want to say Kentucky expects to, but I would not be surprised at all" if he flips.

Stuff like this happens all the time so I'm not expecting anything to come out of it. Kentucky's new offensive coordinator used to be at West Virginia so unless he recruited him while he was there, I'm not sure of the connection between the two.

Seems like worst case scenario is we get only Oden. Best case scenario we get Kendall and Oden. I'd hardly call that struggling to get a QB in 2016.

We'd have been in great shape if we'd have had Riley Ferguson last year...he transferred to USC right?
