USC at the top of their run, piled up five star QBs like cordwood...sometimes three a class...then they'd recruit and sign the best one the next year...I'm sure the recruits were aware of their roster...also kids appreciate rosters being cleared for them.![]()
I wasn't familiar with USCs QB recruiting so I looked. Going back to 1999(that's as far back as services show) they have never taken 3 QBs in a class. 1999-2015 they have taken 2 in a class just 3 times. 9 times they signed 1. 5 classes they didn't take a QB. Oddly enough, always after taking 2 the previous year.
Is the UK site, at all, objective and rational? I really don't know.
Guess them not transferring allowed them to pile up...got you to research something huh? Were they ever down to one scholarship QB during that span?
You said it was common practice for them. I just figured I'd look for myself.
As for who stuck around or bailed, I have no idea. Obviously not over signing the position points to their QBs being content with sticking around.
Flipping to UK just doesn't seem smart in do many ways. He would sit behind Dobbs for one year here, then he could compete for the job. It is very possible, likely even, that he would have to sit behind Barker for three.
Don't count out sheriron Jones, he's a smart kid and he is a very good athlete with accuracy and a strong arm. Jones will be a starter at some point with tennessee.Agreed. I don't know why he'd be afraid of any in the incoming freshman. The staff had no choice but to take that many with only 1 returning QB on the entire roster.
By his sophomore year the job would be his for the taking. UK just makes no sense. Surely there are much better programs that he would consider compared to them.

Who knows. Adding the 3rd QB in the last class may have UT struggling to get a QB to stick in 2016. Kind of like they struggled in 2014 after taking 2 in 2013.
