'16 NC QB Austin Kendall (former UT commit)

They only took 1 3*QB in 2015(plus an ATH that might play QB). 247 didn't list him in the "New SEC QBs".

Taking 2 in 2016 might be reasonable for them. Obviously the UK situation roster wise is much better though.

Kendall doesn't seem like he should be scared to compete against anyone in his class. Really hope he sticks with the good guys.

do you like JG better? who would you replace him with?

Face value? Kendall. If he's concerned with there being a second QB in his class? Next guy (whoever it is) all day...we need guys with some fortitude...recruiting scared athletes is the same as recruiting scared.

Heard nothing. Tweeted a pic, but pretty quiet. Kinda unfortunate we had a huge snowstorm with the visit. Wonder how much he saw and visited.

He's been there numerous times. I'd imagine he's seen most of it so not sure the snow would matter much. Just have a feeling him sliding that visit in before the UT one next weekend may be a hint of what's to come.

Of course with the visit I'm fine with that spot now up for grabs. Especially with him being a QB.

What I said is still relevant. Especially since they gripe so much about how Butch handles recruiting of QBs going back to Dobbs-Fergusen. It is a pathetically ungrateful argument. We need Kendall next year bad, and if Butch feels we need another one, then I do to.

I think we will hold on to Kendall. Too much is being made of his brother playing for UK imo. Had that been as big of a factor as some on here are making it out to be then I think he would have just committed to them in the first place. When Butch is going after a guy I feel very confident in our chances of getting and holding on to them, assuming they're still in the plan, which is definitely the case with Kendall imo.

He has the tools to be an elite college QB. A long way to go until in this cycle but again I feel very confident when Butch is after a guy. He has given me no reason to feel any other way to this point.

True. Hopefully he still got over on campus and enjoyed it. I think he's still in "looking around" mode. If he leaves, it's to UK, but I'm still thinking he's leaning with UT.

Depends. He hears he has a chance to be THE guy in 2016 for a team on the rise. Realizes maybe not, and he might need to take a step back and think. He didn't decommit or anything, so I believe he still really likes UT, but this is an issue for him as a player. Nothing to do with his brother imo. Certainly helps we got him because he got some connections and visited UK before, but the brother isn't changing anything right now.

Yeah I agree that if he doesn't end up a Vol then he will be a Cat. But like I said I feel good about our chances with Butch on our side. Obviously no coach will get or keep every recruit they want, but he has done a great job to this point. And that was with very little to work with on the roster and results that reflected that on the field. Now that he has a lot more to work with (albeit still a young team) on the roster which should lead to better results on the field. I can't imagine recruiting doing anything but getting better.

It may have been previously stated but is Kendall an EE prospect.
Secondly, and not a shot at LC, I can't remember many football recruiting battles between UT and that basketball school up I75 that did not go the Vols way. (Cobb doesn't count).

I don't take that as a shot at all. We definitely are on the losing side of that, and will be for a long time. Right now I don't mind that we aren't directly against them in recruiting areas.

Not taking a shot at you, because you are a good rival poster, but just wondering how you are calling UK a rising program, given that they have the longest losing streak in the SEC, 6 losses. This would seem to indicate regression, IMO

I think he was talking about UT

Fwiw, I do think UK could be defined as a rising team. Huge difference in UT and UK though. UT has so much more potential and can "rise" (more like comeback to what they SHOULD be) a lot faster. UK's rise, if it happens, is gonna take a long time. 5 wins last year, going bowling this year would be a step in the right direction.

It had to be rough to go 5-1 and then lose the rest.

Was rough how we lost UF and UL especially. Was very disappointing vs UT and LSU. Huge games that we just didn't show up to. Had we gone 6-6 the fan base would have felt a lot better. But our schedule was setup that way.

Who are you rising over? Vandy? Certainly not recruiting over anyone else in east.

Tennessee is out recruiting every east school over last two years.
