I'm not a recruiting analyst, I'm just a fan. I read and listen to as much as I can. Jayson Swain, as you surely know is affiliated with 24/7, commended Sweat for being a standup kid and taking a visit to UT. Evidently, according to Jayson, Sweat felt he "owed" our coaching staff because of how hard they have been recruiting him. Jayson then made it clear that, in his opinion, UT has virtually no chance to sign Sweat as it now stands because Sweat just doesn't seem interested in UT. Now, couple that with Sweat's media quotes, his "top schools" and the CB predictions and you get what our current chance to sign him is, which is not much.

Obviously things can change and I hope they do. However, you gotta give us more than "a feeling" when predicting that he's a get for us.

The guy only follows stars. He dont have a clue. He thinks because we now have mckenzie committed, every other 5 star player will want to beat the door down.Biggest star gazer on this site.

We are not getting Sweat or guys like him until we start winning 9-10 games a year. We may score highly rated legacies or in state guys, but to get guys like Sweat away from championship teams or even his own home state, we need to become a championship caliber team.

Thing about Sweat is that he isn't announcing until January, so anything can happen between now and then. He is a definite long shot, but the season can change some opinions. Unfortunately we most likely won't win enough games to sway Sweat.

You make these grand, ridiculous statements. Then when pressed for what you are basing your assertions on, you reply with statements like:

"KM said he was bring west coast guys"

that said, at this time last year no one thought we were getting Malone or Sawyers.

You don't think Jalen Hurd had a BIG part in luring Malone here last year? Malone was as BIG a catch as Hurd was. KMac is now the No.1 overall recruit in the land.

That DOES carry a lot of weight. Now, I agree that facilities, tradition, gameday atmosphere and hype can only get a program so far. Wins affect recruits decisions a great deal too...but this past 2014 class is bringing some heavy hitters on both sides of the ball, and we are about to have a breakout season.

If we are in the contention for the SEC E title toward the end of the season...totally doable in this division...then our chances with Sweat go up exponentially.

May want to re-read what I typed. Last I checked living in Virginia would make the Hokies one of the 2 state teams for Sweat.

The Jalen Hurd-Josh Malone situation is very different than McKenzie and Sweat. Malone was an in state guy like Hurd and Sweat is in VA while Mckenzie is in CA. The dynamic is very different.

I think we will have many encounters with Sweat but not on our team. I'm still saying Georgia will get him but if butch reels him in then great.

I do agree wins have an affect on recruits but some recruits just have that dream school. And I hope the breakout season happens. Need some winning in Ktown besides Basketball

Oh I know. I just more-so meant that no one really sees Virginia Tech as a powerhouse program. Maybe I would feel differently if I grew up in Virginia, but I grew up on SEC football (Tennessee, more importantly) and it just makes more sense.

while what you said is true, there still has been no indication Sweat is interested outside of a visit that he felt he "owed" the UT staff because they were going after him so hard... with him keeping everything so quiet,it makes it impossible to know exactly where he is leaning or if he has made up his mind and is keeping quiet about it... Optimism on this kid is a sure way to feel disappointed when signing day comes around...now if you just kick back and watch it unfold,and he does end up committing after UT has a good season,then that is icing on the cake...but I've not seen anything reported that would make me feel warm and fuzzy about his eventual commitment to UT... and since I don't know him personally,I sure don't have any "special feelings" about it

" 'I'm not sure how anybody can come up with a top five for me, when I don't even know my own top five,' said Sweat, who has visited Virginia Tech, Georgia, Ohio State and Tennessee, and who hopes to make his decision just before the start of the season or at some point during the season. 'I don't understand it.' "

It also says Sweat "refutes any suggestion the recruiting websites have made about [him] having a top five list of schools."

Where have people heard this stuff about him feeling that he "owed" UT a visit or where he will likely go to VT?

Jayson Swain made the comment about Sweat saying felt like he owed the coaching staff a visit because of his hard they were recruiting him. Has nothing to do with whether or not he has a top 5 list.
