'15 TX QB Quinten Dormady (UT Commit 6/9/14)

Yeah I'm definitely on the Dormady train. I really wanted Gentry and Texas is getting a good one there. Dormady wasn't my 1st option or 2nd or 3rd, but he's here for the taking.

Finally got around to watching his tape. Very solid film. Kid has a good feel in the pocket. I like his footwork as well. He's not lazy with his feet. Uses the pump fake effectively. And also used his check down when nothing was there.

I liked how he wasn't afraid of the pressure and stepped right into the throw when he was about to get hit. He's got prototypical size at 6'4 and 200+ lbs. I would compare him to Matthew Stafford. Gunslinger kind of QB. He's been coached up well in HS. I don't think he has Stafford's arm yet. Eager to see how he does in his senior season.

Throwing for Bama tomorrow. I expect an offer to follow shortly after.

Hmmm. Not sure I like that. Especially seeing as they don't have a QB committed and we do. Always easier to sell being "the guy" for the class when there is only 1 QB in the class.

Hopefully HaHa is back on campus for the day and tries to mug someone and Dormady is a witness to it. :birgits_giggle:

Things are getting busy for Boerne (Texas) QB*Quinten Dormady, who is one of the nation's top uncommitted signal callers. The 6-foot-4, 208-pounder will throw at Alabama on Tuesday and then make a road trip to check out several programs who remain in the mix.

"We're hitting Alabama this week and then hitting all the guys that have offered next weekend," said Dormady's father and head coach, Mike. "We're going to see Oklahoma State, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Indiana."

Dormady missed the 2013 season with injury, but has seen his stock rise throughout the evaluation period and camp circuit. He ranks as the no. 5 pro-style QB prospect according to 247Sports.

Almost sounds like he is making a special trip to bama to see if he can get an offer. Interesting.

Hopefully he remembers the Tennessee coaches have made the trip at least twice to TX to see him. Bama coaches? Not so much.

bama: "You want us to consider you?" You have to come to us".

Unfortunately BAMA can do that, as Mel Brooks once said "It's good to be the king"

It looks like this guy may be a good fit = good & still available. 247 Sports has him as high as #5 in pro style QBs, Rivals has him at number 15 or 16, and others like Bleacher Report (and I've always enjoyed you guys teeing up on those guys) doesn't have him ranked at all. Why the big discrepancy?

Look in the recruiting section for more information but basically he missed his junior year due to an injury. Torn labrum I believe. Rivals will evaluate someone as a two star sometimes if they don't have a lot to go on. A lot of camp evaluations of the kid have been pretty good but we'll have to wait on his Sr season to see how he does.

Rivals haphazardly slapping a 2-star on a guy they've not evaluated has always seemed sloppy to me.

If you had a 50/50 chance at Gibson on signing day or could lock Dormady up now (and you had to choose), which do you take?

With our scary QB situation in 2015, I take the safe bet and lock up Dormady now. Jennings is close enough to Gibson for me.

There are a handful of QB's who I would take "first come first serve". Dormady is one of them. I know Jennings still has his senior season to progress, am I hope he does...I really do. But We need someone to go along with him. Someone who can come in and push Jennings and Dobbs for the job in '15.
