'15 TN TE Kyle Oliver (UT Signee 2/4/15)

So many of our fans have to complain about everything. The program has more momentum than it has in a long time and ppl continue to b!tch about recruits.

After watching this kids highlights I was wondering why we weren't slobbering over him to commit much earlier. Kid is a straight beast. Perfect goal line tight end and all around athlete. He is gonna be a uber mismatch for LB's all day and he looks super strong. He will most likely end up being around 6'5' and 250ish when he's here. I can totally see him getting a 4 star bump. He has way more fluidity that most TE's at his size

......North, Malone, Preston Williams, V. Jefferson

Dear god, thank you

With a possible Pearson, Pig Howard in that mix....that's an ugly line up. Plus we can at any give time send Hurd or Kamara out of the back field and go 5 wide....

So is he TE OR WR?

Barton Simmons explains:

Kyle Oliver has been one of the fastest rising prospects this spring as a tight end. The catch is that he's never played tight end. He's been a wide receiver in his high school's offense and it wasn't until people started looking at him in the context of a tight end that his recruitment really took off. At 6-foot-5, 230 pounds, Oliver possesses very good hands and ball skills, he can run crisp routes and he can make plays over smaller defenders. What he's lacking is experience in the blocking game as an in-line player. There may have been an adjustment period for Oliver in a true pro-style system that uses the more traditional tight end but at Tennessee with the spread system, he should be able to quickly become a factor as a mismatch player that can attack a defense from a number of different places in the pass game.
Back in May, I wrote about Oliver as a player whose best case scenario could be Eric Ebron in the right offense. In Tennessee, he's found the right offense.

Whenever there is a commit, i fart with excitement. It kinda makes a boom sound so, i guess that counts :)

Guess I was wrong about this staff not taking a TE. He's got the same frame and maybe some of the same intangibles as Croom. Will make some nice mismatches in the redzone.

with his size...could he turn into either an OT or DE?

I should have worded it better...

With his size now, still in HS, at 6'5" 230, could he develop into an OT or a DE in the future with our Strength Program?

With his speed and footwork he would be like Aaron Douglas on the OL or he could transition over to a DE with his size and speed.

Anything is possible but pretty safe to say KO will stay at TE and/or H-Back.

Dylan Jackson on the other hand looks like a future OT.

Love this pickup. Remember we didn't need a TE this class, so for Butch to take him with limited space means the staff thinks he has great potential.

This BOOM brought to you by the color orange, the number 11, and the currently ongoing FIFA World Cup.
