Here's my 2 cents on Richmond. It's obvious he likes Tennessee, 3 weekends in a row to see us play on his own dime says a lot. He knows he is needed and wanted here, and has a good amount of friends here. Ole Miss also wants him and needs him though to a lesser degree than we do, it's closer and his mom's choice. Though us losing does magnify our need for him, us continuing to lose will push him away imo. Obviously these kids read the message boards and while I doubt a few posters opinions won't dissuade him, he no doubt feels that if we keep losing the Butch will be on the hot seat eventually, specially with all these fair weather fans that make the football forum unbearable. I feel the decision will come down to who he feels like will still be the coach for his entire collegiate career, he probably doesn't want to be here for 2 yrs and then his coach get let go. I for one think Butch is doing an awesome job and is just having to deal with horrible attrition and bare cupboards that were left behind. Not to mention year in and year out one of the hardest schedules in college football. Again just my opinion.
True.. guess I'm wondering is it normal for JUCO OTs to disappoint?
Please enlighten us....
IIRC I saw a stat that none of the JUCO tackles that were signed by SEC teams were starting so, yes it looks like it is normal for JUCO OTs to not contribute. At least in their first year.
Per Fortenberry, Drew will be at Ole Miss next Saturday to watch the Rebels take on the Vols. Drew will be back in Knoxville for the Bama game.
Drew will take 2 other OVs: Alabama-LSU game, tOSU-Michigan game
He'll take an OV to UT some time in January.
"Just from our conversation, I think he still has a lot of interest in Tennessee and even though I think it's an uphill climb for Tennessee I think it's far from over."

2 things here:
1. Anyone who thinks this recruitment is over is wrong we have a great shot
2. Drew and 95% of other recruits actually do NOT read message boards however, I would say 25% of players parents do. It's not as common as one would think.
(I'm no insider but a lot of my friends play D1 sports so I know how the recruiting process works)
Not sure how many other Vol students post on here but I thought y'all would enjoy seeing perspective from someone who is closer to the recruits age.
While I do somewhat agree with you, there are still a lot of other factors.
There were a few guys when I was in high school that were recruited by D1 schools and everyone who was a sports fan read all of the message boards. Even though the recruits or the parents of the recruits might not read them, information can still very easily make its way back to the recruit- especially with how big social media is now. We didn't have that.
