'15 TN DE Kyle Phillips (UT commit 1/3/15)

Not many coordinators are great recruiters. It's not their primary job at that point. This gets delegated to position coaches. The head coach however always needs to be a great closer.

Muschamp was/is elite, Pruitt is elite, Bobo was elite, Kiffin and Sark were elite at USC. There's obviously exceptions both ways but Chavis practically refused to go on the road while he was here.

If you think Chavis is worthy of being the highest paid assistant in CFB I don't want you managing my investments.

Some of you are getting too upset over tweets. I think he's a Vol.

For real. It's possible the timing of Ugo's announcement could be seen as a good sign. Ugo wanted both of them to go to LSU and he felt like Kyle might be leaning to UT. So he set up his announcement before Kyle's all star game to hope and persuade him. That might not be the case but dang posters are so dramatic.

To be the highest paid DC he better have a top 3 defense every year IMO. LSU didn't think he was worth that and I'm not sure I blame them. He's a subpar recruiter and above average DC, I don't consider him worthy of being the highest paid coordinator in CFB. aTm struck out on numerous guys and had to really pony up the money to get someone to bite.

He doesn't have to recruit at A&M. He is a good football coach. I don't care to split hairs over whether he is number 1 or number 5. It's the market, and good for him. Supply and demand.

Kiffin and Sark were co-coordinators. That's elite?

Bottom line is LSU offended Chief with their contract offer and A&M ponied up. Good for Chief.

Bryce Petty had a good career at Baylor I couldn't help but notice and 3 jobs later, Kiffin is calling plays for a dual qb more or less. He can be taught.

For reasons we don't know, he was always the coach that PF identified as the one Assistant that was not allowed to make in home visits, that was the rule then.

I always thought his schemes were good only if he had elite talent around him, I thought he was average on adjusting a gameplan. While typing this Mauck just scored on another QB draw.

One thing about Chavis is his players loved him.

From one Scout reporter to another(Ole Miss to Tennessee):

"I fully expect Kyle Phillips to announce for Tennessee."

I received this in a text from the Scout reporter(Tennessee) about 2 hours ago.

Doesn't matter what I think. He's currently in the top 1% of his profession. Since you brought up investments, it appears your opinion was just debunked by the actual open market economy for coaches.

I'm glad you're not an agent or financial advisor.

Don't put much stock in an Ole Miss reporter who just filed a report that the South won the war.

No way to know if we got Phillips or not, but you guys are bipolar as hell. I expect to see a lot of 'don't want this guy' posts if he commits this weekend. Stay consistent San Diego.

Everybody wants this guy. If he doesn't want to play here, that's his choice to make, but we want him. Coming to UT is a win-win for the Vols and Phillips.

That's my point, the ones who say he doesn't want to be a Vol and GTFO will be the first to exclaim BOOM! when he commits. Folks just need to learn how to chill and enjoy the process otherwise watching recruiting can force you to the nuthouse.

Vol.
