LSU throwing the kitchen sink at this one. I hope these OL statements are a joke, he could possibly play either DE position but strong-side seems more likely.

“we’ve got some home visits coming up with ole miss and lsu and ut next week, so i’m looking forward to that to see how things go and i’m really excited. But right now i’m just really trying to focus on being in the state championship with my team. That’s the most important thing on my mind right now. I know it’s getting down to the wire, but i think i’ll be fine after the game. After the home visits and after i take my official, i think i’ll be pretty much set on where i want to go.”

“(tennessee has) been recruiting me since my sophomore year really hard. I’m an in-state guy. They’ve been on me pretty hard. Really, (i like) just how hard they’ve been recruiting me for so long, how they’ve been pretty much keeping up with me ever since they offered me first.”

he said his official visit to tennessee primarily will be for “just my mom.”

“she really hasn’t talked to ut’s staff, really, before. She really doesn’t know them, so she’s not very comfortable with them right now,” phillips said, later clarifying that his mother simply “doesn’t know them quite as well as other staffs.”

“i know they’re still a young team — very young,” he said. “they’re a growing team. They’re getting better pretty much every week. They’re playing against the best competition in the country, so it’s hard for 18-year-olds to come in and be expected to win 10 games or something. But i’m very excited about them.”

Yes, I think everyone is very impressed, not sure how close that one is though.

Note: I think he is definitely a get if you can do it, for LSU I think they might push harder depending on the status of Robinson (indefinite suspension), and the two Jalens go to the NFL early.

Respected VQ poster described Phillips as "on the hook and CBJ just needs to reel him in."

Also says distance is becoming more and more of a factor.

I think we get Phillips. Having the last visit is huge here.

Not sure they are pushing at this point, but things could change drastically in the coming weeks, see Note above.

I would probably be more worried about Phillips and Dylan Jackson, LSU is making hard late runs at them.

Yep, some around here are a bit worried about them. It's that crazy time of year again. I guess we'll find out on signing day for sure

Wins some, lose some. Some of them you wish you won, you are lucky you didn't i.e. Justin Maclin.

DE is the biggest need for LSU in this class on D, everything else is in great shape depending on the status of the CBs as specified in my note.

Amadi, not sure its a committable offer. Phillips and Jackson LSU from what I know would take immediately.

Yeah... its kind of fun to see how this all plays out every year.

Yeah, hard to tell with these young guys, I never count on the out of state guys until they are on campus.

I actually think if Jackson added a little weigh he could see snaps immediately. Reminds me of Jordan Allen but with some speed, I really like the guys film. Jordan Allen I really loved because he had the high motor, but the guy didn't have the foot speed... Jackson looks pretty fast for his size, maybe not Mingo speed but he doesn't look slow footed.

LOL I wish you would have asked for Maclin back.

Both guys look good to me, I'll let them figure it out.... I'm fine if they go to the Vols, which is my second SEC team... better the Vols then anyone else.
