'15 TN DE Kyle Phillips (UT commit 1/3/15)

Only thing wrong here is your existence.

Even if we don't get Phillips, Perry seams to be a home run type player. We could use that explosiveness on HB screens, special teams, and in the slot over the middle. Win-win situation IMO. We could get Phillips, but even if we don't, Perry seams to be exactly what this offense needs.

Only thing that scares me with Perry is him being a speed guy coming off an ACL tear. Maybe it doesn't effect him long term, but he is being recruited to cause havoc in open space. Not to mention, I felt we had this type of player previously with Bruce. To me Phillips, Abernathy, Martin, a LBer, and an OT with some obvious movement in the current commitment list would round off a great class.

The only thing I could say is he competed with the tear and no one suspected it so surely after the repair he'll be just as speedy.

SIAP, per Chad Simmons of Scout, Kyle Phillips will be visiting UT on Saturday. He'll be accompanied with Vincent Perry.

Ugo is coming too.

I'm telling you guys we are in it way more with Phillips than we are getting credit for. Everyone assuming Ole Miss because they are hot right now but I'm really thinking Phillips to UT at the end of the day. I know he has a lot of UT influence around him. That's something Richmond didn't have and it showed.

Put the FC press on Kyle this weekend and lock him up.

I hope we can snag just Perry and Phillips. Nothing against Ugo, I just like the other CBs we are in on better.

I have no earthly idea what our staff is trying to do; however, I think Ugo is a lot higher on our board than people think. Abernathy is number 1, and Martin is 2. Past that, I don't know the order, but I would bet money that Ugo is in the top five/six CBs on our board. Butch has made a late push for him, and I have a hard time thinking he'd turn his commitment down. Don't blast me for this. Just my opinion, but it'll be fun to see how this works out.

Per Hubbs

Also expected in is new commitment Vincent Perry and his four-star teammate Kyle Phillips. Perry's commitment to Tennessee wasn't necessarily a surprise in that Perry picked Tennessee, but it was a surprise in terms of timing. Perry had talked more about waiting for other offers but decided to go ahead and pull the trigger for the team he grew up watching.

Perry should certainly help with Phillips and getting Phillips back on campus for his second game this season is a big deal as the Vols continue to be a real factor there. Tennessee, Ole Miss and LSU remain the three teams we hear the most around Phillips.

Some have asked about Phillips as an offensive lineman and the fact that he's been just as impressive on the offensive side of the ball as he has on the defensive side tells a lot about his athleticism. He's told Volquest.com in the past he isn't against playing on the offensive side of the ball if it's the best fit for him.

How big is Phillips I thought he was a SDE.

I would guess he'd be a tackle right?

247 shows him as 6'4 and around 260. He would obviously need some time to grow into an OT, but if he is getting OL reps in HS maybe the transition is something the UT coaches are looking at.
