'15 TN C Nick Marshall

This kid must be tearing up the AAU scene because I saw him play last year for his high school and i wasn't impressed. He was tall. Taller than all the other guys on the floor. And decently athletic. That's really all the good i could say about him. The tallest guy on the other team was 6'4 maybe. And that team wasn't very good. And he didnt do much to stand out. Not trying to be a debbie downer or anything but it may not be the worst thing for him to pass on UT

There's a reason why entering AAU season he had almost no high major offers and wasn't on any recruiting services radar, but now he's got multiple high major offers (from some very good programs), and is ranked in the top 150 and climbing on recruiting sites.

As you said, he's obviously improved quite a bit. Now I will say a big part of his offers and rankings may be potential, 7' guys who are athletic m and run like a guard don't grow on trees, those are the types of bigs coaches drool over.

Dominic Woodson is transferring from Memphis. So, they could still pursue Marshall and Skal.

The plan is for Dom to return next season to Memphis, regardless, doesn't sound like Tennessee is even in his top 5.

I don't have inside info, but I wouldn't count on Dom returning. Why would he leave in the first place? The school put out a statement and specifically said that he was in good academic standing. The only way I see he comes back is if it's academics, so why volunteer that statement?

Plus, if they can land Skal and Marshall, then I believe they would rather have them than Dom returning (head case). JMO.

That's what Parish, Martin and Smith have all been saying, that this has been in the works for awhile and that, that is indeed the plan. They admitted that other coaches will obviously come calling, and recruit him, but the plan is for him to go to Southwest whatever it is in Memphis and play for a year and return to Memphis next year.

If he was in good academic standing why not just transfer to another school this year, use your redshirt and not waste a year of eligibility? Schools say stuff all the time in those statements that aren't exactly true.

I would find that hard to believe. Schools usually just omit the bad information- they don't lie. This was the very thing that Parrish said yesterday. Again, I don't know for sure, but it seems odd to me. I wouldn't guarantee his return.

Yes, Parrish said the plan was to place him in JUCO for a season and bring him back. There's talk that Skal could EE like Stokes did if his transfer from ECS isn't cleared, and that Memphis needed the extra scholarship for for that very scenario...also with the news of Kedren likely to Memphis, you can see the reason they needed to possibly make room.

As I said above, with other schools now free to recruit him there's no guarantee, but the talk from Woodson's end and Memphis' end was that he would go there for one season and return to Memphis next season.

Parrish also said the school wouldn't say that he was in good academic standing if it was for poor academic performance. That is what I was referring to in my last post. I just heard about Kedren Johnson this afternoon. Kind of makes sense now. Sounds like they talked Woodson into leaving so that he can get more playing time. Still not sure he will be back though.

Yea, that's appearing the likely reason, or for Skal as an EE like Stokes was. They probably figure if Dom comes back great, if not, oh well.

So I'm confused, would Memphis have room for skal if he were to EE like stokes? If not, would that boost us higher since we would?

They wouldn't have, that's why some people are saying they are sending Dom to JUCO, to free up a spot. They were at 12 scholarship players, Kedron Johnson is supposedly headed there which would put them at 12, then the news about Dom leaving came out giving them another spot.

Maybe we are still in it?

@GCRivalsGlenn: 2015 6- foot-10 center Nick Marshall has narrowed his list of schools to South Carolina, Tennessee, Memphis, Uconn, Indiana, and Ms State.

Next step - get a visit. Probably a pretty good shot since he can cover Memphis with an unofficial.
