'15 TN C Nick Marshall

The good news is that with his entire senior season to go it should be pretty cut & dry as to what needs to get done.

That's right and time to really work on test score prep. He is as raw as they come but he has good feet. There is no offensive game at present but that's pretty common for big guys. His size and athleticism gets everyone's attention right now because that's two things you can't teach. It will be interesting to see how he takes to hard coaching this year. His high school has a new coach who demands accountability.

Will likely be a good thing elther way, either he can take it and progress, or can't take it and stands no chance of ending up at UT.

Per a poster on VQ who appears to be his coach, Indiana offered today. Coach also spoke to Tyndall on the phone about nick and how they want to lock up the state like Butch.

Yea Indiana, Alabama and Florida all offered today...would love to land this guy, no reason we shouldn't be able to IMO. Not from Memphis, doesn't have a long relationship with any team, Tyndall needs to land this guy.

No reason we shouldn't? Really?

What good reason shouldn't Tyndall be able to pull him? Like I said, he's not from Memphis so that excuse shouldn't apply. He's just now blowing up, so Tyndall just getting the job shouldn't hurt him as no one really has much of a relationship with him? If Tyndall is serious about kicking down the state, and recruiting top talent, this guy is a great opportunity.

No?

I agree with all that. I don't agree with singling out any one recruit and saying we must land them.

Now there are exceptions. Kids like Vonn Bell who were UT fans and DD botched it. Or legacy kids like Todd Kelly. You've got to land those.

This kid may have zero interest in us. He may have grown up disliking UT because of some strange reason. Or he could have spend the last 10 years dreaming of playing for billy D.

You just never know and a single recruit doesn't tell the story for any coach. If he strikes out on this entire class, then you've got a pattern. Does it two years in a row, then we've got a problem. That won't happen though.

Btw, Rob says we are way out in front for Donte Fitzpatrick.

Saying we should or shouldnt be able to get a recruit is an unreasonable assertion on your part. Based on what? Hes not from Memphis? That he is just now starting to get several offers? Come on BTO, if thats all it took to get highly sought after players from TN then we would be a Top Tier program every year. Of course its a great opportunity & place to start but its definitely not a sure thing or an easy one.JMO

I didn't say we must land him, but that with the info known we should. Now if he comes out in an interview and says that he has some bias against UT, then agree, nothing you can do about that.

Wow, that's an interesting tidbit, I do wonder where he sits on their board and also Memphis' board. Was Fitzpatrick on Rob's big board? Any updates on any other guys, or that's just someone Rob mentioned?

Didn't say it's a sure thing, but like you're seeing wth Butch in football, if you put in the time and effort most of the home state kids like the idea of playing for Tennessee.

Said if he had to guess, we were likely going to get visits from Beasley, Bacon, Evans and Clarke.

Imagines we are in good shape with Marshall. Thinks we were in a good spot for Maye but the Virginia offer is scary. Kid is in ACC country and is a big academic guy.

Way out in front for Fitzpatrick and in a good spot with Shembari Phillips.

Says he thinks DT wants to wait a little on Beasley before taking a SG.

Good info, thanks. Thought that was likely the case with Beasley as they've appeared to start slow playing Phillips a bit.

That first 4 you mentioned are the top 4 on the staffs board IMO, Dequon Miller also up there somewhere.

The scary part becomes how long do you wait on those 4, long enough that guys like Fitzpatrick and Phillips are off the board? That's the issue the last staff ran into some, targeted some highly rated guys, but when they missed their fall backs weren't highly rated guys.

I kinda misquoted RL. Said we'd likely get a visit from Beasley and kinda implied the same thing for the other 3. Splitting hairs at that point because it's all guesswork now but I don't want to put words in Rob's mouth.

Said Clarke was wide open.

Lexington is primarily orange so far as the fan base is concerned. If Butch offers Tisdale it would pretty much seal the deal.

I was trying to get familiar with these new 2015 targets. It may have been stated before, but it appears that Fitzpatrick and Marshall play on the same AAU team- Team Thad. I would guess that helps us.

Fitzpatrick plays for Team Penny, not Team
Thad, he may have been listed on their roster, but he's been playing with Team Penny in EYBL.

It could, there's been a lot of talk that Team Thad pushed their players to not attend Memphis or any other in state school. Whether that's backed up by facts, I haven't done the research, but I know that's the talk from a lot of Memphis fans.

Now that very well could be sour grapes from them not landing some guys that played for Team Thad, as I said I truly don't know.
