'15 NM QB Zach Gentry

I think there will be a lot of schools closer to him offer a scholarship. Hopefully his 1st offer from UT and the coaches making the trip to see him sticks out. Will be a very tough pull IMO.

A trip to a spring game with 70,000 Vol fans signing Rocky Top after my dudes Dobbs and Ferg are hitting Von Pearson, Marquez North, Josh Malone, Daniel Helm, etc. for TD's and J. Hurd bulldozing cats, he'll see the display of weapons he'd have in his arsenal and commit in the spot

We'll see. I hope your right. If he staff is going to land a top QB for 2015, I think it needs to be early. Most expect a 6 or 7 win type season. Ideally we have our QB locked up before the season plays out.

5-6 wins this year imo.

Next year, 9 wins

New OL/DL, I don't care. Tennessee needs to be in a bowl game this year or it is a huge failure IMO. 5 wins again is just not going to cut it. The guy has signed almost 60 kids already who will be on he field. Bowl game should be expected this year IMO.

I have extremely tempered expectations. 5 new lineman and most likely a young QB = turnovers/penalties/sacks

I'm hoping the new line will be able to execute the scheme better than we did last year. I think improved speed on defense will make the biggest difference from last year though.

Your argument can be turned the other way as well. 60 kids who have mostly never played a down of big boy football. The two most critical spots, OL and DL, have a full turnover. I think we can make 6 wins. I won't go any higher though

Speed will be MUCH improved. It will be pretty noticeable, especially on special teams

We have kids on both the OL and DL who have been at UT. They have been lifting, at practice, and part of the program. It's the coaches job to have them ready to play. Maybe we should have seen more OL/DL guys getting snaps this past year so as to have them ready to compete this year? I'm not a fan of giving a coach a "pass" for 3-4 years while he "gets his guys". Kendrick, Sanders, Carr, O'Brien, Wiesman, and others. IMO the coaches should have them ready to go. I know a lot of fans look at each recruiting class as "let's pencil them in as starters". I just don't buy into that. If a kid is being coached correctly, a kid who has had 2 years on campus and in the program should own his position vs a kid coming in the door. If he is not, then I question the coaches.

Butch said the expectation is bowl games from here on out. I'll have the same expectations.

I personally won't be satisfied with only 5 wins.

5 games this year should be automatic wins.

We should be able to pick up at least one from the group of FL, UGA, SCar, Ole Miss, Missou

And for the most part I agree. The argument that we shoukd have played them more isn't a good one imo. At the time, they didn't give us out best opportunity to win. We both have no idea what will happen. Just off simple facts, a new OL and DL, I have tempered expectations with the opportunity to be pleasantly surprised. But Leonard Little and Ramon Foster ain't on the lines this year :)

Who in the world would ever be satisfied with 5 wins?

There's a lot of unknowns going into this season, mostly revolving around how the new guys will do. I'll say this; getting 14 of the new guys as EEs is HUGE for Team 118 and a stroke of absolute brilliance by Jones. It's basically a redshirt year of S&C, except without the redshirt. Similar to what Jones said last season about how the play of the defense will depend heavily on the play of Dan McCullers, the play of Team 118 will depend heavily on the play of the new guys. In this instance, I'm extending "new guys" to include Dobbs, Ferg, North, Sutton, Carr, Wiesman, Vereen, and some of the other young guys that stepped up and made plays last year, since most of them will only be true sophomores.

That being said, I'm definitely expecting some improvement in the W-L column this season. I see 5 should-wins. The rest is gonna be on Jones and the team. Honestly, after last year, I'm expecting us to beat Georgia and South Carolina this year. Florida will also be given all they can handle in a packed Neyland Stadium, though due to our damn near supernatural run of bad luck against that team, I'll refrain from making any predictions. I see 7-5. I'm hoping for 8-4.

our playmakers on O are at a whole different talent/experience level than what we had last year

Pig and North now have a year of solid PT under their belt - and Helm/VP/Malone are big time talent additions

on D we lose a Dline that really did nothing most of the year - will it be great, prob not, but it wasnt last year either so not a huge loss

our back 7 2 deep will be significantly more talented than it was last year - CM coming back, AJ returning, JRM having a year in the system - CS and BR coming back in the secondary - and then the significant influx of talent at LB and DB will make that group significantly better

im not saying we win the SEC - but 5 wins just isnt going to cut it this year - this is not an equivalent talent level to what we fielded last year at all - and the schedule is easier

Im personally not worried much about the lines or any other position except QB. Yeah the lines are young but very talented and havent been under different coaching styles and most are going through their 2nd time in this S&Cp. I dont care what anyone says about Dobbs though, from my veiw point, he was not impressive and got worse, not better. Thats concerning. And as far as Worley, I felt we won the USCjr game dispite him really. We must have something better in Fergy to have a better record IMO. If Peterman steps onto the field this year, its an EXTREMELY bad sign. Ill say 8-10 wins if Fergys good, 5-6 if not.
