I think there will be a lot of schools closer to him offer a scholarship. Hopefully his 1st offer from UT and the coaches making the trip to see him sticks out. Will be a very tough pull IMO.
A trip to a spring game with 70,000 Vol fans signing Rocky Top after my dudes Dobbs and Ferg are hitting Von Pearson, Marquez North, Josh Malone, Daniel Helm, etc. for TD's and J. Hurd bulldozing cats, he'll see the display of weapons he'd have in his arsenal and commit in the spot
New OL/DL, I don't care. Tennessee needs to be in a bowl game this year or it is a huge failure IMO. 5 wins again is just not going to cut it. The guy has signed almost 60 kids already who will be on he field. Bowl game should be expected this year IMO.
Your argument can be turned the other way as well. 60 kids who have mostly never played a down of big boy football. The two most critical spots, OL and DL, have a full turnover. I think we can make 6 wins. I won't go any higher though
And for the most part I agree. The argument that we shoukd have played them more isn't a good one imo. At the time, they didn't give us out best opportunity to win. We both have no idea what will happen. Just off simple facts, a new OL and DL, I have tempered expectations with the opportunity to be pleasantly surprised. But Leonard Little and Ramon Foster ain't on the lines this yearWe have kids on both the OL and DL who have been at UT. They have been lifting, at practice, and part of the program. It's the coaches job to have them ready to play. Maybe we should have seen more OL/DL guys getting snaps this past year so as to have them ready to compete this year? I'm not a fan of giving a coach a "pass" for 3-4 years while he "gets his guys". Kendrick, Sanders, Carr, O'Brien, Wiesman, and others. IMO the coaches should have them ready to go. I know a lot of fans look at each recruiting class as "let's pencil them in as starters". I just don't buy into that. If a kid is being coached correctly, a kid who has had 2 years on campus and in the program should own his position vs a kid coming in the door. If he is not, then I question the coaches.
