'15 NM QB Zach Gentry

This is the QB I hope UT ends up with. Besides his size and ability to run, he has a very quick realase comparable to (not equal to) Dan Marino. I've only seen highlights which only tell a very small portion of the story, but with proper development this kid could end up being a #1 pick in the nfl. I really like Gibson and Stidham too, but niether of them have the quick release Gentry has. Accuracy is a concern when Qbs have this type of throwing motion, but like I said, with proper development he could be great.

“The head coach coming out, especially this close to signing day to wrap up the 2014 class and everything, I think that’s a big deal because they’re definitely showing a lot of interest,” said Gentry, who now claims six offers to date. “I mean, Coach ‘Jake’s already come out to see me three times, so that meant a lot.”

“They just told me that they’d love for me to be a Vol, and they want me to try to get out and maybe see the spring game, get out as soon as I can and visit everything, and take an unofficial and just check everything out,” “(Jones) was just telling me that they love the way I play, they love the kid I am, and they really, really want me to wear orange and white in a couple of years. It just really meant a lot to me hearing that from him.”

“I’ve been looking into it, especially at the recruiting class that they’ve been pulling in right now and the talent they’ve been pulling in, in the 2014 and 2015 classes so far,” he said. “It’s really exciting. I’ve been looking into it more. I like it a lot, especially with the interest the coaches are showing. Doing my research, I like the school, I like the facilities and, obviously, the recruiting classes they’ve been pulling in are top-of-the-line.”

“I think I’ll be able to (get to the O&W game),” Gentry said. “I think I’m going to talk to my family right now about trying to get out there to see the spring game, so I think that’s a possibility, for sure.” “My parents have always just told me, if a place feels right, no matter how far away it is, they can do whatever they can to come out and see me,” Gentry said. “I think, if a place just feels right with me, then I have no problem traveling or going a long distance.”

Don't be misled by the "pro-style" label. Gentry can move pretty well and, as he has told me before, probably was rated as a pro-style guy based on film from his sophomore year, when he wasn't quite as mobile because of an injury he played through. He claims to have been timed at 4.68 seconds in the 40-yard dash. He definitely can run a little bit

I think Gentry, Torrance Gibson, Jarrett Stidham and Drew Lock probably are the four 2015 QBs at the top of Tennessee's board right now, but it's still early. Other targets always could emerge, and that board could change a bit as the Vols continue evaluating guys in the coming months, especially during the spring evaluation period.

Looks like they are putting themselves in good position with him. Nice

I'm 100% with you on this one....could be a case where we "settle" for something better.

Former Rams qb. One of the first qbs to start sliding rather than getting tackled. Jim Rome called him Chris (as in then female tennis player Chris Evert, effectively calling Jim a girl). Then this altercation happened.

He also got sacked 6 times in a game before he took the famous Phantom Sack. He inspired David Carr.

Liking him more and more...mainly because he's perfect to redshirt and sit for two years....developing both physically and mentally...and be fully vested and ready to start as a redshirt sophomore :rock2:

At 6'6" 230 if he develops much more physically, playing QB may not be an option.

He runs a lot in his Hudl film...Lawson needs to get some padding on him...nb4 TE or DE folks clock in.

Big kids always worry me since they may grow some more. There was a kid that was recruited to Southern Miss as a DB, moved from DB, to LB, and ended up on the DL.

On Volnation you are whatever rcvol says you are. :yu:
