'15 NC RB Rocky Reid (Wake Forest commit)

After this season, barring injury, do you all think Scott can beat out Hurd or AK for carries?

Scott gets tons of love in the RF. The last several pages in this thread and AKs thread have posts about how great he is. He's a talented kid, but I don't think he can beat out what we have and we'll bring in based on how well CBJ is recruiting.

May end up being a dumb post, and not my first, but as long as the football forum exists, it won't be the dumbest of the year.

Scott may not start this season but he is only one awkward ankle or knee twist away from rotation. This is why you stack talent at rb. We don't want any drop off if an injury puts a guy out.

I don't know what some of you guys are smoking but Gurley does not look any better on his Senior HS video than Reid. And IMO and I am old RB Reid looks like he has more potential. And Reid looks faster and bigger in the videos. Take a look for yourself.

Gurley
Todd Gurley Senoir Highlight - Todd Gurley highlights
Rocky Reid
2013 Junior Highlights - Rocky Reid highlights

Basing my opinion after watching both of these videos, I completely agree that Reid looks better.

Now, will he progress the way Gurley did, hope so. Also, keep in mind that's Gurley's senior highlights vs. Reid's junior. Kid is a stud!

Hope Scott balls out, but I don't see it. He's a great cutter, but doesn't look big enough to run between the tackles or fast enough to be a homerun threat. Paulk looks like a tougher runner and with AK in the fold I think Scott has already been recruited over. JMO, obviously.

Are you serious?

I love that last part so much.

Also, I sort of agree with you to an extent. I didn't really see Scott as elite on his highlights, like a lot of people did. Although I do think he could develop into an elite back. I wish we had the current depth in place where we could redshirt him a year.

He keeps reminding me of David Oku. Although I think Oku would have been much more useful in our current offense.

I was mostly happy that we stole Scott from South Carolina. I didn't expect to get him.

That being said, I don't know much and I just get nagging gut feelings. Just thought I would let you know are not alone in your concerns.

Also I hope Scott ends up being awesome.

Scott's cutting ability and vision make him elite IMO. You don't have to be a burner if see you the hole and hit it quickly

Yeah you might be right. I hope he does well this year. If the coaches put him in good situations, he could really explode.

To me, there are certain guys whose tape just jumps out to you and screams elite. Hurd's for example (or North, Malone, TKJ, CP). Scott's highlights don't jump out to me like those did. He looks really really good. I'll just leave it there. If we're pulling in really really good players as our 3rd take at running back we're doing awesome, in my opinion .

I also think Rocky Reid's highlights look borderline elite. But again, I'm no expert. He just looks like the kind of guy you would rather have on your team than be playing against. Like someone alluded to earlier, he makes you think of those guys that trot off of LSU's sideline as the 3rd or 4th RB on the depth chart and just dominate a game.

Excited more and more about the future every day.

scott is elite period. kid is a special player. sc still sick over that one.

If Scott is elite, then rocky is too.. Played in the same classification in Carolina and was a year younger than Scott last year.

Both look really good to me, but I can't call them elite just yet. Jalen Hurd looks elite. Not every recruit has to have consensus elite status. That would change the definition of the word.

This. I think Hurd has the potential to be elite. I feel the same about Kamara. Scott, Paulk, or Reid can be for all we know. The thing is, we don't need them to all be elite. We'll have a diverse group of backs who are good in different situations.

Both are "very good" IMO not elite

Who cares tho, we are stacking up talent at that position

First I've heard this.

Did an interview at the Shrine Bowl invite. He chose UT for academics, family atmosphere, and school atmosphere. Wisconsin, NC St, GA Tech, Michigan St still coming hard. When asked if he could tell UT fans one thing, what would it be, he said, "I'm ready, we're coming."

Like the coaches got this young man early on. He fits into what we need at UT. I like both backs for the 2015 class. RB at Tennessee is stocked and ready to rock going forward.

I like our stable of backs by next year. The coaches have done a great job getting talent here. What I like most about our commits is the variety of skills they bring. Hurd has size, power, and speed. Kamara has speed and game changing playmaking skills. Rocky is a work horse. Scott is agile and make plays. Paulk is a bowling ball. That's what Tennessee has been missing. The combination of speed and power. I've always loved the combination of finesse and power such as Lewis and Henry, Cadillac and Ronnie, Bush and Lendale, etc.
Lets get a 3 group rotation of backs
Kamara + Hurd
Scott + Paulk
? + Reid

I love what we have as well. Of course (6) RBs will not see carries. It's usually going to be 2-4 any given year. If your 2 best backs hold up injury wise, the 3rd and 4th guys won't usually see many carries. I'd guess Hurd/Scott play this year while Paulk RS. Kamara comes in next year and we'll have 4 great options while Reid will RS. They are spread out alright going forward.

Lane will play this year.
