If there is one thing I've learned in all my years of watching football, it's that the transitive property does not apply.
Sure. You can't say: "UT beat Western Kentucky, who beat Navy, who beat Pittsburgh, who beat Notre Dame, who beat Arizona State, who beat UCLA, who beat USC, who beat Stanford, who beat Oregon. So, UT is better than Oregon". But,you can say "Indiana is a garbage football team, and the best explanation of Missouri losing to them is that Missouri is probably not as good as we thought".
We can't use transitivity, but we can use abduction.
