'15 NC DT Shy Tuttle (UT commit 9/26/14)

Unless I am missing something, I don't think that was the case at all. If you look at the CB predictions, all the OSU ones came in literally the day or 2 after he got an OSU offer and at the time it was by far his best offer. I don't think he ever visited or camped at OSU. I looked on the Scout OSU recruiting board and there is literally no mention of the guy dating back to the beginning of June.

Don't get me wrong the kid has a great film and I think he can play at UT. I don't think OSU was a serious player at all for him though.

these two quotes were my thoughts as well....bc i couldnt find anything about him on their boards either

Forgot about Butcher. And the other one is a good smart kid who will represent the university well, but there are more talented options still on the board.

Why so sure? The staff did take Jackson very early in the process. Obviously they saw something other than him just a kid who will represent UT well. Are there more talented options? Maybe the staff did not see it that way?

I get where a local kid taken 5-10 days before NSD may be looked at as a roster filler. Staff missed on a better target and filled the spot with a borderline SEC kid. When they take the kid almost a year before NSD, I'm not sure how that thinking comes into play. The *'s do not always tell the story IMO and too many folks think they do.

I think we have a shot at DeBerry, he seems to like it in Knoxville. He and his family have been down several times. Sweat is going to be hard to pull out of Virginia. Think he stays with the Hokies in the end.

My gut on the DeBerry situation has me thinking dad likes UT more than Ricky does. JMO

LEB, in your opinion, if the johnson guy picks UNC, would think u have to like our chances with guy....

It would be NC State IMO for Johnson most likely. IF he goes that way, IMO we have a great shot to get either Jones or Tuttle.

Impossible to say for sure though as bama will be in play for Jones and Tuttle to UNC will always be a threat till he decides.

Picou and McKenzie would not be a disaster at DT at all in 2015, but it does appear the staff wants 3 if they get the 3 they want.

If QJ commits to NC State, then I think that either DJ or Tuttle is a silent, along with Kahlil, which means our DT class will be silently wrapped up. :)

Jones could be a silent, but with him not planning to announce till Dec, bama has a lot of time to work on him.

Kind of like QB, and RB, I'd rather see the 3rd/last DT announce right around the time KM does. Lock it up and move on to focusing on other positions.

JMO, but I'm basing it on very few local kids in this area get a lot of attention from big time universities. Since a lot of us live in this area, we tend to errantly think these kids are better players than they really are. And I know there are several exceptions, but as a rule blue chip recruiting is not that strong out of the East Tennessee region. His offer list looks very impressive from an academic standpoint, but athletically where games are won on the field, I just feel like we are in on some players more physically suited to get Tennessee to the next level.

Whether DJ commits soon or in Dec, Bama will continue working on him no matter what. Butch Stones says, "Bring it." You can't get the best unless you go against the best.

On numbers... I guarantee you there will be a few (maybe more than a few) players leave the program that aren't contributing.

There will have to be. If the staff over signs and there ends up no spots to put the new guys after NSD, it would be a disaster. The 2016 class might be 2 signees if that happens:).

Very large. Has some bad weight but that's normal. Lawson will take care of that. Definitely will contribute this year.

Everyone coming in has done a great job preparing for what lies ahead, except a few.

Would you mind telling who are the exceptions? Bryant looked out of shape in the pic from the other night.

Noticed that as well. AJ, Curt, Dillon, Jakob all looked in great shape, then there was Bryant lol. Nothing wrong with that though. Lawson will get these guys going and Bryant has a huge chance to be a contributor on special teams at the very least IMO.

Reported that D. Blair, C. Mosley, and Hendrix all came in heavier than their listed weight. Maybe D. Mixon as well?

Fact just some guys need a structured weight training along with a nutrition program and a kick in the A$$ to get going.

don't know what Blair's listed weight is, but VQ mentioned he's dropped some pounds.
