'15 LB FL Cecil Cherry (former Vol commit)

Pretty sure no one here claimed he had drama until after he took an unexpected visit to Texas and called them his "dream school." While I don't condone dogging teenagers on Twitter under most circumstances, the drama here was in fact started by Cherry himself. JMO, as Leb would say.

Please enlighten me. What don't I understand? You said the kid has issues and has drama. Did you feel this way before he decommitted? Did you express this prior to him decommitting or did you wait until after? I would really like to know since I don't understand. I assume that you are an adult over the age of 18. Wish the young man well and leave it at that. All of the snide comments are uncalled for. It makes you come across as bitter.

Prior to him decommitting most posters were calling him Cecil the Diesel and raving about his bone jarring hits. Imagining him manning the MLB position almost like Al Wilson. After he decommits, he is too slow, too short, not good enough, illiterate, drama queen, and got issues. THAT MAKES US LOOK LIKE AN INBRED REDNECK FANBASE. We know better, so we should do better.

I guess every fanbase wants to diddle their sisters then...happens everywhere.

Cherry has always been a smack talker, especially on twitter. UT fans ate it up. Now that it's directed at UT, not so much.

The kid took a trip he was told not to and it cost him his spot. It's really that simple. If he were still committed to UT, his "issues" and "drama" would be no big deal to Vol fans.

The plot thickens! Basilio is saying today that his sources are saying that Cherry was directed away from UT by Alvin Harper Sr. The reason supposedly is that we did not offer a scholarship to Alvin Jr. The allegation is also that Alvin Sr. was trashing us in social media.

The rumor is that Alvin is trying to package his son with Cherry as a package deal with Arizona State. There may be some truth in this, but it doesn't explain Cherry's fascination with Texas. I also have to question why Cherry would listen to Alvin rather than his uncle Tony Thompson.

The fact that Alvin is having to package his son with Cherry shows that no one else offered him either! Sorry, Alvin, but there are other legacy sons that we didn't offer either.

Bottom line is that Basilio's sources are saying that we did not recruit someone over Cherry, but that one of our own pulled him away. If this is true, then Alvin can join the former VFL club with Tee Martin and Jay Graham.

Might have missed something...don't see how Graham gets lumped with Tee...audiotape I haven't heard?

Did Jay Graham kick Smokey when I wasn't looking? From what I remember he was simply not a great fit and left on his own accord. (not a Honda)

I think you have this backwards. A caller yesterday stated that his "source" told him that. Tony rebutted that and said that isn't what happened at all. Once Cherry started looking around UT recruited over him. Swain saying the same as well. Basilio actually said that UT let him publicly decomit.

My understanding is that Basilio doubted it at first but it was later confirmed by Vol Colonel that there was merit in the Alvin Harper story. Sounds like Harper stabbed us in the back!

If you just google Alvin Harper jr you can find these rants that were posted over the summer. He makes a comment like "Guess 6ft WR can't play in the SEC anymore"

Actually, it seems the Harper angle might have some legs. The problem with these rumors is that you can't know for sure whether the other source is just repeating the original rumor.
I think there is little question that Alvin Sr. was sore that his son was not offered by UT. There were several UT legacies in the last couple of years that were not offered by Butch. Billy Williams son who played at Farragut is one that immediately comes to mind. Terry McDaniel (Isaiah) and JJ McCleskly (Jalen)also had sons who weren't offered. Wasn't there also a Lady Vol whose son played O-line?
I didn't hear a bunch of whining from those folks.

Isaiah even walked on to be a part of TN.

Pretty sure he didn't have any FBS offers. While I admire Isaiah, some are making it sound like all these kids deserved offers to UT.

EDIT: not directed at you btw OG, more at these on other boards claiming we need to offer any legacy that we come across like Jalen McClesky and Alvin Harper

No worries. I didn't take it that way.

Lol that's hilarious. He talked himself into a hole to where he had to deal with being someone else's backup plan. It couldn't be more obvious they would have passed if Kirkland went there too
