Actually, it seems the Harper angle might have some legs. The problem with these rumors is that you can't know for sure whether the other source is just repeating the original rumor.
I think there is little question that Alvin Sr. was sore that his son was not offered by UT. There were several UT legacies in the last couple of years that were not offered by Butch. Billy Williams son who played at Farragut is one that immediately comes to mind. Terry McDaniel (Isaiah) and JJ McCleskly (Jalen)also had sons who weren't offered. Wasn't there also a Lady Vol whose son played O-line?
I didn't hear a bunch of whining from those folks.

Harper was interviewed on the radio today to clear the air. He said he wasn't mad at UT but a little hurt that when his son would make plays in camp he didn't get a lot of positive reinforcement. If a 6' 3" receiver made a play all the coaches were letting him hear it. Nothing Alvin Sr. said was shocking. Just a father wanting the best for his son and knowing it is a business at this level. He said I guess UT isn't going after 5' 11" receivers anymore.

Wish the young man the best of luck unless they play the real UT. I was really looking forward to seeing him play in the Orange and White.

Polk County Football @polkcountyFB · Dec 10
ICYMI: Victory Christian 2015 LB @cecil__cherry3 de committed from #Tennessee on Monday. Cherry will announce his decision on signing day.

:p

For the record, I was not bashing the kid for having issues or drama after he decommited. I wanted him at UT. He reminded me of AW.
I was only telling the reason UT did not want him (other than we picked got a better lb). Texas will soon see why. Game over.:hi:

I don't. He acted like a little ***** and wouldn't be at either UT if Texas had gotten Kirkland.

Alvin, UT is still going after 5'11" receivers...but they run sub 4.5 40's. My guess is speed is an issue. If you aren't fast, then you probably need to be 6'2" or above. Heck, I saw speed from Croom against UK that I wasn't expecting. UT is recruiting at a high, high level. Support your son and hopefully, he will succeed somewhere else.

He will struggle playing against those spread out Big 12 offenses. He's a big hitter but we got the more complete Linebacker and its not close.

You're making fun of a kid who will be playing Division one college football when I bet you guys can't even last a game of flag football in your back yard.

Let the kid live his dream.
