'15 LB FL Cecil Cherry (former Vol commit)

Anyone that thinks Austin is beautiful after visiting Knoxville is reading from the post-recruiting visit interview script. Hippie weird people out there. And that's just at the footsteps of the state Capitol :)

Cecil's just playing the game to get more stars I hope

Well I surely do not like the sound of those quotes. Sounds like one side or the other has cooled on Cherry. Either the staff has or he has cooled on UT. In either case, I think we have to open back up recruiting on his position. That's not just saying replace him but you have to rerecruit him and find some contingency plans if he seems shaky.

This would be very disappointing blow. Cecil is my favorite of the whole group.

Tennessee linebacker commit Cecil Cherry (Lakeland, Fla./Victory Christian Academy) said he “loved” this weekend’s official visit to Texas.
Longhorns coach Charlie Strong especially made an impression.
“Coach Strong spoke the truth,” Cherry said. “I had a wonderful time. There’s opportunity there. Coach Strong doesn’t talk about it. He shows you. I had a great time. It was a live atmosphere.”
Cherry has been on Tennessee’s commit list since June 14, 2013.
“I’m still with the Vols,” Cherry said.
Will he sign with them?
“I’m not sure,” Cherry said. “I’m not going to speak on that. I’m going through the (recruiting) process.”
Cherry said Texas is “definitely” his number two school.
“The town is beautiful,” Cherry said. “I had a wonderful time and enjoyed it.”
Cherry got to see Texas defeat West Virginia, 33-16, Saturday.
“It was fun,” Cherry said of the game. “They have a good atmosphere. I had a great time.”
Cherry spent time with the other official visitors from Florida including Devonaire Clarington, Tim Irvin and Davante Davis.
“All of them loved it,” Cherry said.
Cherry said he’s setting up an official visit to Clemson for November 29 when the Tigers host South Carolina.
“I’m going to call (Tiger defensive ends) coach (Marion) Hobby and see how it looks,” Cherry said.
Cherry said he isn’t talking to any other schools beyond Tennessee, Texas and Clemson. He doesn’t have any other official visit dates set up.

That sucks... Don't like the sound of that. One of my favorite recruits. If the coaches are backing off for whatever reason. They know more than any of us do. Still have hope he'll be in orange and destroying RB's and QB's...

I just did more research on Kirkland and if Cherry goes elsewhere, I would be more than happy to get Kirkland.

I'm slow to get too enthusiastic because I don't want to make sour grapes wine before Cherry even does anything. When I noticed the Texas/WVU score I got my first "uh oh" feeling...how about you?

If a recruit is keeping his options open, the coaches just have to be ready in case they need to make a move. Any recruit who is taking visits is NOT 100% committed no matter what they say or fans want to think. I don't care what they rank. If a recruit is taking trips, his spot is/should be in question.

Don't get me wrong I still want Cherry, just trying not to be too disappointed if he goes elsewhere. Yeah, that score kinda crossed my mind a tad.

I think it's really relative to who the recruit is. I mean let's be honest some recruits have more "luxury" than others in taking visits etc. If a recruit is really key to the class then you most definitely will give them a bit more slack. However these wishy washy comments make me believe you have to open back up recruiting a MLB; part of that is trying to see where you stand with Cherry part of it is trying hard to get back into it with other MLBers on your board.
