'15 LB FL Cecil Cherry (former Vol commit)

I really don't understand how this guy is a 3 star on some sites and IMO it shows why the recruiting rankings are not the be-all end-all when it comes to projecting a guys talent and potential. His offer list and film are easily that of a mid-to-high level 4 star. Yeah I know he's not 6'4" 240 but he still has good size (6'0" 230 according to 247) with the ability to add some more bulk (I think he could end up playing around 240) imo. And I know he doesn't have the best lateral quickness but he has enough to be an effective and good player, and more importantly he has great instincts, he reads and reacts very quickly. Imo he's similar to a guy like Monte Teo in that regard--not the quickest guy but his instincts and ability to diagnose a play quickly more than make up for it.

Can't wait to see what this defense looks like with him manning the middle. He's a great player and also going to be a great leader for this team. This team is going to be in good hands goog forward bc we seem to have a lot of guys who are leaders, have great character, and love this university. That can turn a good team into a great one. Butch knows this and seems to go after guys with that in mind imo.

Cecil has set up an official to Arizona St. Unsure of the date. He has been in constant communication with the staff and they have been giving him their blessings on visiting other places. Not worried.

I go to Austin a lot. Most of their fans are cool. They really want Cecil, but they don't think he'll flip. Since he's been committed so long.

Just in case ill be on 6th street all weekend in True UT gear reminding him what the color orange really looks like...just kidding of course, going to be drinking and eating at Wurstfest!

Let's be real. I'd take an official to Arizona St in a heartbeat. Unlimited selection of females

If being real, why would I need to go anywhere except UT's campus if I were a star recruit? Plenty of young ladies on UTs campus to spend quality time with.

Why would I need to travel all the way across the country to see some strange? I mean, seriously. :)

Umm ... No.

Have you seen the quality and quantity of women at ASU? Unbelievable.

The strange at ASU and Texas is quite exceptional.

Because he will never see them again. Once he's at UT he might see those ladies again. Two different scenarios lol

It's been posted here for years of the quality that is ASU. It's obvious Cecil's been reading Volnation.

Hi Cecil! :waving:

Tennessee linebacker commit Cecil Cherry (Lakeland, Fla./Victory Christian Academy) said he “loved” this weekend’s official visit to Texas.
Longhorns coach Charlie Strong especially made an impression.
“Coach Strong spoke the truth,” Cherry said. “I had a wonderful time. There’s opportunity there. Coach Strong doesn’t talk about it. He shows you. I had a great time. It was a live atmosphere.”
Cherry has been on Tennessee’s commit list since June 14, 2013.
“I’m still with the Vols,” Cherry said.
Will he sign with them?
“I’m not sure,” Cherry said. “I’m not going to speak on that. I’m going through the (recruiting) process.”
Cherry said Texas is “definitely” his number two school.
“The town is beautiful,” Cherry said. “I had a wonderful time and enjoyed it.”
Cherry got to see Texas defeat West Virginia, 33-16, Saturday.
“It was fun,” Cherry said of the game. “They have a good atmosphere. I had a great time.”
Cherry spent time with the other official visitors from Florida including Devonaire Clarington, Tim Irvin and Davante Davis.
“All of them loved it,” Cherry said.
Cherry said he’s setting up an official visit to Clemson for November 29 when the Tigers host South Carolina.
“I’m going to call (Tiger defensive ends) coach (Marion) Hobby and see how it looks,” Cherry said.
Cherry said he isn’t talking to any other schools beyond Tennessee, Texas and Clemson. He doesn’t have any other official visit dates set up.
