'15 LB FL Cecil Cherry (former Vol commit)

I would certainly not mind taking Cherry's talent, but the mentality to reportedly quit this early, over a jersey number, or anything, really, is not what I'm looking for in a LB

Generally there is more to it than just that. I'm hoping a jersey number isn't the only reason he left.

All kidding aside, Cherry "when his head is right" would truck you 2x harder than Gavin Bryant and that is hard to deny. His heart isn't right because he has the "entitlement" attitude. Bottom line is I have 3 short words for him. Preferred Walk On. Does anyone not think that he would be a monster on a kickoff? He'll never be anything but a run stopper but would be a fine member of an 85 man roster if someone would just put boot to ass and force him to understand growing up.

Bryant is just as physical and more explosive. His highlight reel also had some nasty hits, and back in the spring some of his teammates were saying he was the hardest hitter on the team. He's a mean dude.

You guys are really harsh on a kid that decided he wasn't happy at a school. I'm sure all of you had it all figured out as a college freshman. I know I certainly didn't.

Bashing the kid makes zero sense.

He made a spectacle over picking Texas over tennessee. Not that I'm saying hating on an 18 year old kid is a good thing to do but he kinda made that decision to burn a bridge. I'm not but hurt over losing the kid, I think we upgraded. But given his skill set it
Was silly for him to ever think big 12 football was a good idea for him. He needs to play against a lot of I formation running offenses. Probably the sec or BIG would be his best bet if he wants to stick to lb.

Come on, now. You have to admit this kid seems like a bit of a flake. He was only at the school two weeks and went through one practice? That sounds more like a quitter/spoiled brat than it does the indecision and insecurity of a typical college freshman. We're also hearing reports that a part of the problem was not getting to be #3? This coming from a guy who was talking up Texas so much just a few months ago?

Well Dad isn't helping much here. The correct answer would have been that you need to finish what you started. Yo made this decision see it through, That's Life

I agree and disagree. Sometimes when you realize you made a mistake it is harder to admit you screwed up. Your pride starts messing with you. Maybe he should have sought better council before making that enormous decision. Good luck to him wherever he goes.

Bryant over cherry any day of the week and twice on Sunday

Bryant is much faster than cherry and hits just as hard

GFW realistically, will Bryant ever see the field? i've heard on here that he needs to get the mental aspect down. I was wondering how he's coming along on that part.

I'd like to see Cherry at UT. Our coaches had a lot invested in him; so, it wouldn't surprise me if they have communication.... I recall we all liked his high school film

I'll admit that I loved his film. However, he burned his bridges in my view. I would be extremely surprised if he came here.

Not to mention he now is labeled a quitter. Can't see Butch being interested in that.

I agree with you but this kid did go out of his way to be an ass. Not saying that makes it right but it still gives more incentive for people to be negative to him than the just choosing a different school.
