#15 in AP Poll

The AP Poll has been such hot garbage early this year.

I thought we were ranked too low after Week 1, but somehow they jump us 7 spots for beating ETSU? The end result is closer to where we probably should be, but the logic on how we got there makes no sense. Meanwhile, if we lose by 3 to Georgia next week, they'll probably drop us 8 spots.

Also they jumped Florida State 4 spots for beating East Texas A&M. Just stupid how much they are reading into "beating up on cupcakes". No way Florida State should advance as much for beating East Texas A&M as Oklahoma does for beating Michigan.

AP Poll somehow just keeps getting dumber and dumber.

I dig it. Let’s take care of business this week and we could go on a real tear heading into that stink hole down south in October. Even if we do lose, a tight game only drops us a few and keeps us in the hunt anyway.
Win definitely moves us into top 10, a tight loss 5 or under and we will not drop.

Half the writers don’t watch the games nor do any homework, esp since polls don’t mean anything with the playoff committee.

The coaches poll is worse with someone on staff doing the voting.

The Vols jumped up more spots than anyone else previously ranked. Was it the 70+ points or are a bunch of voters just changing their minds on the Vols seeing how Alabama, Florida and Georgia games are not as predictable as they were before or is it like the earlier poster said and they are just making up for their pervious unfair treatment of the Vol?

There should be objective monitoring of AP poll voters' acumen, and each year the bottom 10% ought to be kicked out and their ballots given to alternates waiting in the wings for a chance.

Something like this: a voter's ballot for each and every week is compared to the year's final poll results. And for each position the voter was off with each team it's one point against them. For instance, if Tennessee ends the year ranked #4, then the voter who put the Vols #8 in the pre-season gets negative 4 points. Another -4 when they keep the Vols at #8 in week 2. And so on. Do that for every team in the final poll, for every voter. Sounds like a lot of work, but the computers can count it all up in milliseconds.

If there are, say 60 poll voters, the bottom 10% (meaning the bottom 6), the six with the biggest negative score, they get kicked off and new blood gets let in.

Over time, this will not only clean up the sleepwalkers and homers, but it will also add some prestige to being an AP poll voter. More folks will want to be one, which will enrich the pool of candidates, which will eventually make the poll even better.

This is such a good idea, it makes me wonder why they're not already doing something like it.

Go Vols!

AP Poll doesn't pick title today so it really doesn't matter in scheme of things.

We moved up 7 spots, but that for the ratings against Georgia this week. Now, after beating the #3 at home, we should be no less at 7th-8th. Anything less than that is a sin against God.

This is my personal favorite voter for this week.

🤣🤣🤣 If these “voters” can’t at least be somewhat realistic, then they shouldn’t get a vote. That’s ridiculous lol

LSU, South Carolina, Clemson, Iowa State overrated, probably by a lot. The rest is ok.
Yep, USC jr barely beat VT on Neutral field and Vandy beat VT by 3 TDs at Virginia Tech.
Well just noticed Vandy & USCjr play next week @ South Carolina being at home id say USCjr pulls that one out.
