'15 GA WR Preston Williams (UT Signee 2/4/15)

Preston said he would love for coach Z to be the OC but he would wait and see who the OC is before making any changes. Said he is still a Vol per 247.

Said he was nervous about the change. If we lose this kid we have 0 WRs in this class and 3 Seniors leaving after next season.

You're right, he probably wasn't. But he also was clueless about all the other factors. namely, the career earnings potential of the NFL and how important it may be to someone to go to the school that is right for them.

I agree. I think the issue with Vic though is has he fairly judged his situation at UT or is this is a premature decision? If he has looked at the surrounding talent among the WRs at UT and decided that every is indeed more talented than him, and that the guys UT has coming in are as well, and he has decided he is not going to get enough PT, then again, he may want to make a move on now. But if he hasn't made that assessment, and is just unhappy that he didn't start from day one like some of the other true freshmen, then it may be a case of him not having the toughness it takes to make it on a D1 team, so in that case, he probably should make a move now. But if he is mentally tough, and I would like to think he is, he would realize that his playing time increased towards the end of the season and he showed during that time that he is capable of competing. Now he has a chance to go into spring practice and prove that he deserves more PT. If he fails, then maybe he might want to think about moving on.

Anyway, we are off topic. Let's just move on I guess

Agreed.

All I know is Jones better be calling this kid and/or Azzani and letting him know that he will be OK.... that goes for everyone else on offense. This signing class has officially stalled until something gives and someone is hired.... your Allen's and others are not going to make a decision until something is finalized.... and it isn't helping that there are all these strong rumors of players leaving.... they better stay becuase we may be losing some commits...

Other schools are, predictably, negative recruiting against us. If Z leaves and/or PW visits the Barn this w/e, it could get dicey. I'm sure the coaches are all over it.

I agree I am sure Butch is on top of this for sure- also the players leaving werent star players and surely the recruits see that if they are thinking about it.. Trying to be positive about all of this but I am still nervous of course.

Do you really think Butch has not taken steps already? Im sure he knew before us and already handled the situation.........

I don't see how our class has "stalled" when we are already over full of commits at the moment.........

The only players leaving are those bury in the depth chart and are not going to see the field anyway..........

Didn't Kelly commit yesterday knowing CMB was gone?

Maybe, just maybe, Azzanni won't be a 8==D, and he will wait til after signing day to leave if he is going to leave.

If he is smart he leaves the second he accepts the job. In no way would he be in the wrong. Its kind of his new job to sign kids who would he playing for him. If he accepts the HC gig.

So a coach can drop a school less than two weeks from signing day but a coach can't ask a player to grey shirt? Is that not dirty according to your definition? By the way if CZA takes the CMU job I think he should go immediately IOT try and pull a couple of late recruits. I just wanted to point out that you were being a little hypocritical in your positions on the goings on this close to NSD.

You may now retort with your normal mumbo jumbo.

Kids SHOULD be committing to a school and not a position coach. IMO they are not the same at all.

Ever played football (or any coached sport)? Ever had a coach or boss you got along with great or not so great?

There are always guys wanting to play for their home school like Jack Jones.

For the most part though your coach makes a big difference. This is the guy who you will answering too for the 4(or so) years. The coach is a mentor, father figure, and a boss all rolled into one.

I don't know why you discount the coaching relationships so much.

This is why some recruiters are better than others.

My comment was on CZA leaving. You think if he takes another job he should leave immediatly even if it leaves UT in a lurch. How is a coach bolting two weeks from NSD different from a school parting ways with a recruit in the same time frame. It is easier for a 4* recruit to find a new landing spot than it is for a school to conduct a coaching search, interviews, and hiring process in that short amount of time. You think one is ok and one is not. Why is the one ok and the other is dirty recruiting?

A WR coach getting the chance to be a HC at another school and a recruit being allowed to sign with the school he committed to is not in any way similar. I don't get what you're trying to get at.
