clemson247- you said ole miss is your leader after your visit there this past weekend. What was it about the rebels that made them your frontrunner?

Swinney- "the coaching staff, the campus, “ole miss is on the come up.”

clemson247- one of your former teammates plays for ole miss doesn’t he?

Swinney- "yes, mike hilton."

clemson247- do you think demarre’s exposure has helped you get seen by these big time programs? Describe your relationship with him.

Swinney- “yes, demarre and i have a good relationship, i’ve known him since ninth grade.” his exposure has exposed me.”

clemson247- who’s your favorite sports teams?

Swinney- “falcons, braves, uga. I’m a georgia boy.”

- swinney let me know that he will be visiting tennessee on saturday. Tennessee was the first team to offer him and this will be his second visit as he was in knoxville for the spring game.

- i also talked with him about the acc vs sec debate and he said, “the sec is great but i would play in the acc too.”

- swinney also said he plans on taking a trip to florida state this season.

- he told us vanderbilt is recruiting him hard as well.

Did a video interview with scout. He is VERY high on Ole Miss. He said he thinks Coach Nix is one of the best in the country. His teammate, Chris Williams is very high on them as well. He said his top group is Ole Miss, UT, FSU. Wants a Clemson offer. Tennessee is recruiting him the hardest. Does plan to see his top schools again

“Things went great today,” Swinney told InsideTennessee.com. “I learned some new things at the camp that I really didn’t know about. Coach Gillespie got to sit down with coach Gillespie today and he is a real cool dude.

“The first time I came for the spring game and we kind of showed up late and I didn’t get a chance to see anything really. This time we saw almost everything. The campus, the beautiful facilities and I really got to meet everyone on the coaching staff this time. It was a pretty good visit.”

On Coach G:

“We are building a great relationship,” he said. “He is a good guy — down to earth. I can see myself playing for him one day. He is a great guy and a good coach.”

“They are building a program here starting now,” he said. “They are trying to win a national championship and they think that I can fit well into that. The fans and the facilities — it seems like a down-to-earth place to live. I would spend three or four years here and I can see myself here.”

ERIC SWINNEY RB, 5-10/185, TYRONE, GA.
VISIT RECAP: Last week's camp was Swinney's second visit to Rocky Top, but his first where he got to tour the campus and have more thorough visits with the coaching staff. Most importantly it gave him a chance to sit down with running backs coach Robert Gillespie to start the relationship-building process. His first visit came during the Orange & White Game on April 20. He said during the visit that he's up to 10 offers, with the latest being Arkansas and named Tennessee, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt as his leaders. Of the 10, the Vols were the first to offer Swinney.

QUOTABLE: "(On sitting down and talking with Butch Jones)"We sat down and talked a little bit. Talked about me. Talked about him. They're building a program here. Starting now. They're trying to win a national championship."
