so you are saying he must be scared of competition ?

Not at all. If I am looking at it as an unbiased person, throwing yourself into a 3 QB recruiting class is not a wise move when you have a lot of other options. There will be competition everywhere. How many other school do you think plan to take 3 QBs in 2015? I'd take a wild guess and say very few, IF any.

there is not a 100% JJ ends up at QB , Im sure he is going to get the same shot as TG & QD and if TG ends up moving to WR its a win win ?

As I have said MANY times. It's not a "win win" if taking 3QBs(2 being large projects) in 2015 costs us a shot at getting a top caliber QB in 2016.

Taking 1 "ATH" who may end up at QB I can buy into. Taking 2? I'd pass. As I have said.

Actually the "zone read" and the "read option" are a variation of the old single wing with the backs moving in different directions and the OL blocking in different directions. All three have eleven players.
Now, the 13 player offense that Dooley ran was different.
Just choked. Cracked me up.

Unless Gibson lives up to his potential and hype, getting us 9+ wins for two or three seasons. After he's gone we can worry about depth. Not saying this will happen, just saying this would be a win if we take 3 QBs and struggle in 2016 in QB recruiting.

Probably also less different than you think.

This may help:

For those looking to label the Philadelphia Eagles' offense, Chip Kelly has a suggestion.

''We run the See Coast offense,'' Kelly joked. ''If we see something and we like it and we think it fits, we're going to run it. Let's run with that and we'll go from there.''

Since Kelly's arrival from Oregon, people have mislabeled what the Eagles do on offense. Kelly finally clarified, saying the Eagles don't run a zone-read offense or a read-option offense.

''I don't think it's an offense. I think it's a play,'' Kelly said. ''We don't run read-option if you want to get really technical. We run a zone-read play every once in a while.''

There's a difference between the zone-read and read-option, though both are often confused. Depending on the call, the quarterback has different responsibilities and ways to execute either play.

''Zone-read is just one guy. You read the defensive end or whomever and keep it,'' Kelly said. ''If you're running read-option, you're pulling off of him and then you have a pitch back (option) and then you pitch back the ball.''

I'll play along. "TG is a UT silent" says the random AU board.

With Bruce taking the 2nd WR spot, I'd guess UT would not add a 2nd RB(No Kamara), and TG would be the TE for 2015. Hope he can put on 25-30LBS quickly. Maybe we see him competing as a blocker on the end of the line. Of course, I would not count on it. :p

How good of a blocker is QD? Maybe QD is the TE if we take TG.

Thank you Chip Kelly for explaining it for us idiots to understand. Now I see the difference.

How good of a blocker is QD? Maybe QD is the TE if we take TG.

Looking at the film, I'd have to disagree. QD is clearly the better passer and his film was as a SO. If we were looking for a QB to tuck it and run 18-20 times a game, TG might would make more sense to me. With Jennings being a similar ATH at least to my untrained eye, I'd probably still just roll with JJ as he is already a UT commitment.

Not a fan at all. Coaches can do things the right way and still win. If a coach has to lie to a recruit to sign him, why bother? The transfer % goes WAY up doing business like that. The bad pub is not worth the headaches IMO. If your recruiting them for QB, tell them AND be honest with the other recruits. If your going to "sign" them at QB and move them to WR 22 minutes into practice #1, just tell them you see them as a WR. A happier recruit will perform better. Don't lie just to get a signature. JMO

And I am much happier when I have a hundred grand in my pocket. :)

It's a bit funny to me the number of times I heard that we didn't take a QB in '14 to guarantee that we'd get a shot at top talent in '15. You take the best talent you can, every chance you get...especially if they are athletes. You know, bird in hand...

We should be thankful an elite athlete like Gibson is considering us these days. Hell if Dooley was still the coach, he wouldn't even have gave us a look. People in this thread need to stop complaining and be thankful that these "elite" athletes are actually considering Tennessee again.

I think the staff very much wanted to get a QB in 2014. They just did not decide to reach on any major projects and filled the class with other options. After missing in 2014, I do think they are willing to take at least 1 project in 2015. Maybe they decide to take 2. We'll see how it plays out.

100 grand in your pocket is never a good idea.

I agree, it could melt and ruin your pants.

Taking projects that happen to be a 4* safety and a 5* wide receiver seems like a really good planning to me.

If taking them at those positions I agree. I would not take multiple projects who "might" play QB and "might" not. Not if it will affect QB recruiting. I'm fine with taking 1 project in 2015. Just not a fan of taking 2 projects at QB and affecting next years QB recruiting. Coaches take TG as an "ATH" that won't be lined up as a QB headed into 2015, Alright.

100 grand in your pocket is never a good idea. Better to have it drawing interest somewhere or at least invested where you will see some kind of return. JMO

You're no fun sometimes Leb :bad: Get a hooker Maxwell! Even if you're happily married...just get em to clean your bathroom!:haha_oh:
