I guess CBJ should stop recruiting highly ranked layers and only focus on the lower ranked guys. That way if they don't work out then it's no big deal because expectations were not high to begin with.

It's obvious that we are so good that we don't need ultra talented players.

If he is so adamant about being a QB why does he keep playing WR in these 7 on 7 tourneys. I hear him but his actions say he is more open to WR than he is saying.

CBJ needs to do his own evaluating instead of relying on the star system. He does that already. Stars are for the fans.

I don't think I ever said that at all. You can run with it though. IMO he will be the best passer in the class. With our weapons on the outside, I do think it helps set him up to do well right away.

kind of funny you say he is the best passer in this class when I have a friend who is a former QB at Tn ,who says he needs more work on passing than TG. Who to believe ? you or a former QB ? but he likes QD also. he called TG a program changer. he didn't say that about QD. So some place he has seen TG throw UT.

Everyone has an insider. Or at least claims to have one. :p

Ill be that guy...

Whose to say Boyd would stack up numbers like that against sec teams week after week.
Talented yes, but the acc was never exactly stacked with defenses like the sec.

I'm just going to start linking this article everytime I see someone get called a stargazer in this place.

How sleeper recruits still make the NFL, despite blue-chip dominance - SBNation.com

Total recruits in 2010 2014 first-rounders Total 2014 draftees
Five-star 27 (0.6%) 4(12.5%) 16 (6.3%)
Four-star 395 (8.8%) 13 (40.6%) 77 (20%)
Three-star 1644 (36.5%) 12 (37.5%) 92 (35.9%)
Two-star/unrated 2434 (54.1%) 3 (9.3%) 71 (27.7%)

For those who don't like percentages, here are some more intuitive breakdowns based on the numbers from the entire 2014 draft:

A five-star recruit had a three-in-five chance of getting drafted (16 of 27).
A four-star had a one-in-five chance (77 of 395).
A three-star had a one-in-18 chance (92 of 1,644).
A two-star/unrated recruit had a one-in-34 chance (71 of 2,434).

You won't allow yourself to fall into thinking taking really talented, highly-rated players is a good idea?

So brave.

I am all for taking the talented kids who project well in UTs systems. I'm just not one who will base all my opinions on whoever the highest rated kid is per the services are the best kids to end up at Tennessee.

Has he ever played the position or is he just trying it out?

He has played it in several camps. His JR year was his 1st at QB, so I would assume he played at least some WR as a FR/SO in HS. A lot of people have said he projects better at WR than QB. With his speed vs his passing abilities, I tend to agree with that.
