'15 FL QB/WR/DB (anything he wants) Torrance Gibson

After his visit to Auburn on Saturday for Big Cat Weekend, 5-star prospect*Torrance Gibson*of Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage said he needed to think it over Saturday night to figure out where things stood in his recruitment at the top.

Last week, Gibson told Ryan Bartow of 247Sports that Auburn and Tennessee were his co-leaders. But on Saturday, he said the trip “Moved [Auburn] up a lot.”

When asked if the thought of committing crossed his mind at any point during the visit, Gibson, who both Auburn and Tennessee are recruiting to play QB, replied, “a little bit."

Sunday afternoon, Gibson sent 247Sports this direct message on Twitter: "Auburn is my leader but they both still share the #1 spot."

Asked to clarify if that meant the Tigers now held a slight edge over the Vols, he replied, "Yes."

Gibson is the No. 1 ATH and No. 15 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite.

Saturday's visit was his second to Auburn. He stayed the night in Auburn.

Gibson plans to visit Tennessee in June for its quarterback camp, which will feature Jon Gruden

But... but... the 'realists' on this board says he isn't going to come to the QB camp. He's pretty much committed to Auburn.

Seriously. What's going on in here? Many posters are acting like Gibson committed to Auburn this weekend. Did I miss something?

Well.. you're knocking people for thinking he won't come here, but you yourself have said multiple times you ultimately believe he ends up somewhere other than UT.

Auburn owns us on the field and in recruiting lately. I bet they remind Gibson of that as often as they can too.

You said 'thinking'. I don't think some of these posters are thinking with their knee jerk reactions.

What a disgusting defeatist attitude. Our time against Auburn will come. I have no doubt.

Edit: in all fairness I misread your post in the future tense not as past tense, so you are correct given the recent history. Sorry.

I'm not sure it's so much of that. It's more, anytime a prospect leaves Auburn and names them #1 in the past, it has been pointless to continue recruiting them for the most part

I would love to see this kid be a Vol but honestly I'm not too crazy about him as a QB. Like I said would love to see him be a Vol but as a fan sitting on his couch I actually am more impressed with Deondre Francois as a passer and he's mobile enough to get out of trouble.

I understand your point, but how can hip hop be dead if Wu-Tang is forever?

That said I don't understand that when Tennessee is still listed as 1b with a visit coming up at a high profile camp how anyone would think it is pointless to continue. So maybe Auburn leads 55/45 now, but who's to say that it flips the other way after his visit here.

You finish the battle is all I am saying when the odds still look this good. He may end up at Auburn, but not without a fight.

I'm knocking the knee jerk pessistimic attitudes. I said awhile ago that I felt in the end Gibson won't be a Vol but mostly because our staff isn't going to wait until December for another QB commitment. Not because I'm afraid of OSU or auburn recruiting. Butch Stones isn't afraid either.

Bam!

I considered Neal our "feature" back as he carried it 2X as much as Lane did. Between the 2 backs they shared about 350 carries. I think CBJ plans to have the OL a little meaner and a little better at run blocking in the future. As the QBs get better in the system, they will go faster. I see no problem having 30-35 passes a game, 35-45 RB carries a game, and 5-6 QB carries a game.

Except that thats like 80 plays and we aren't Oregon.

We will run like 55-60 plays with 18-25 being passes

I want him before the others because of the physical nature and speed of the SEC. Tebow and Cam have 3 NC rings between them. You need a QB that can take a hit and deliver with his legs to win consistently in this league when running the spread offense IMO. You can teach them to perform better in the passing game with a year of development. You can't teach them instincts with the ball in their hands - they either have it or they don't. Gibson has it.

But as I said before, I see him going to the Barn for the reasons I gave. If Butch pulls it off, and he is quite capable of doing so, I will be one happy guy. If he doesn't pan out after a year of development he goes to Z to be a WR. Win-win IMO. But the Barn can say the same thing along with Cam and playing for the NC last season.

I'm pretty sure when asked Butch Jones has said ideally he would like to see the offense running about 90 plays a game.

Going back and looking at last year, Tennessee ran over 60 plays in almost every game. They ran over 70 in several games. With another year in the system, I'd expect them to be more comfortable going faster. JMO

Auburn (1a) has a slight lead over Tennessee (1b) for QB Torrance Gibson, per @AH__Athletics. He visited Auburn this weekend.

Per Josh Ward Tweet

Jones himself said that we will be going faster. We're going to speed it up a lot.

This was so predictable. It'll be back to squarely tied for #1 if not UT being 1a after the QB camp in June.

Carl Lawson, Davante Lambert, Marquel Harrell, Gabe Wright say "fine, thanks. How are you?"

Sorry, Can't give you Harrell. It's widely been said he tried to commit to Tennessee and the coaches would not take his commitment at the time. He then picked AU.

Lawson, Yes.
Lambert, Maybe(qualifying was a concern).
Wright, Yes.

Exactly right. Staying ahead of the chains on first down is key

Lol. At acting like you are a scholar on the game simply because of who you cheer for. If anything it made you look more foolish. What's next 'Score more points than the other team if you want to win'. Being a captain obvious gives the opposite impression than what you are trying to put out there.
