Here is a nice example of just how crazy the Torrance Gibson sweepstakes is so far.

Torrance Gibson is the most viewed recruit profile in 2014 so far. I'm looking for the third most.https://twitter.com/NoahStanley247/status/472478797141671937

Yes Gibson and Jennings are very similar. But whatif Gibson is better (which is popular belief). *What if he is not?
Dormandy runs a pass friendly offense. If people are going to rag on TG for his offense, you cant just overlook everyone else's. He can read defenses somewhat and is pretty accurate but he seems to be lacking arm strength. *His arm looks just fine to me.
You're implying that you would take dormandy and williams over Gibson. Thats just insane. *Williams would be a walk-on. If Gibson wanted to walk-on, I'd be alright with taking Gibson over Williams IF we landed Dormady.
I either want Gibson or Francois. They are the most talented QBs that we have the best chance at. Gibson's elite athleticism cant be taught. No one would be questioning Marcus Mariota deciding to transfer here even though they are basically the same player. *MM has done it on the top level of college football, TG is going to be a HS SR if/when he gets admitted back to school.
Francois can make plays with his legs too. Although its not necessary to have a mobile QB, Its an added dimension to Francois game. He also is a talented passer from the pocket.* I agree Francois would be a great pickup, I just don't see us really in it to land his signature.
1. You're going against popular opinion just to try to be speculative
2. Dormandys arm isnt as strong as Gibson's.
3. You dont pass on a player of Gibsons caliber whether he takes a scholarship or not. You're still picking Dormandy over Gibson which makes no sense. Gibsons ceiling is much higher.
4. Mariota and Gibson have almost identical skill sets. Thats like saying during the 2010 draft, "Well Eric Berry plays kind of like bob Sanders or ed reed, but those 2 have already proven t heirselves." Well obviously, because thats what happens when someone is 4-6 yrs older than someone who is a rookie. Mariota wasn't always the QB for oregon. He was a high school player just like Gibson a few yrs ago.
5. Idk if we will get Francois but we are near the top of his list. Im not for settling for someone just because someone else likes twitter too much or because there is competition to get them.
Thats almost like saying you would take Drae Bowles over AJ Green. (Just for comparisons sake. Nothing against Bowles)
Marriota is pretty darned accurate, much more so than Gibson IMO. Calling them the same player is a bit of a stretch. Marriota is very smart too. Not saying Gibson isn't, but Marriota is pretty special in all areas, not just an insane athlete that makes easy throws and runs a lot, which is what Gibson seems to be to me.
They run a lot of the exact same plays. A lot of screens and crossing routes. So Mariota is smart when he does it, but Gibson is just taking advantage of the system? You're comparing their differences as of right now. The only difference I see is 3 yrs of college coaching.

Kind of threw me for a loop. I'm thinking I did not type that.lol:

Link for #2?
I see that those who think negatively of Gibson are complaining about accuracy, the fact that a lot of his passes are short screen passes and that he is just taking advantage of the system of his team.
I also know that most, if not all, VN members have pointed out our poor record over the past 5 years and want wins badly.
Here is my question: would Gibsons negatives really matter IF he could help us win a lot of games?
I think a lot of people feel TG would not win a lot of games as the QB at Tennessee. Obviously in part to the negatives they point out. Maybe right, maybe wrong, but it's impossible to say 1 way or the other for sure. When other QBs are considered much better passers and serviceable runners IMO those kids would make more sense in our offense. Track star speed is just not something you have to have to be a good QB in college. Passing ability IMO is much more important.

Gibson's skillset is more Vince Young-ish than Mariota-ish.
Tennessee's offense with Gibson has the potential to be the most prolific we've seen in over a decade or maybe longer. The potential is so high for a player with his athleticism and raw skill, plus all the other weapons that are coming here, that there may have never been a Tennessee offense with more.
Even better. Vince Young won a college national title while Mariota has not.
I would take a Vince Young 9/10 times for this offense. With the exception being a Cam Newton.
I actually liked Young in the pros. He had some wins that I will never forget. Just wasn't smart enough to be an NFL qb in the long run.
