Dooley is gone, bruh. Since Butch has been here, he's gone head to head against Auburn for 4 prospects and signed 3 of them.

Cam Sutton
Dontavius Blair
Cortez McDowell

CBJ isn't scared of Auburn.

3 for 5 iirc....Johnathan Ford decommitted from Vandy , narrowed choices to AU and Tn and chose AU.

We offer another qb.... TG puts AU as co-leader.....

We flirt with other qbs he's going to flirt with other schools. It's a dangerous dance.

In the end I believe he'll be a Vol!

Oh???...so they stopped recruiting...err "flirting" with Locksley? I think you're giving his "thought process" too much buildup...he probably spent his suspended day kneecapping a librarian and tweeted his Final 7 Manifesto whilst scarfing down Krystal burgers!!

I believe Butch will get whoever he wants at the QB slot. Great school, rising program and the best core of receivers in the NCAA.

Let him do his work and if he goes TG or someone else, have faith.

Oh I have faith in CBJ and his recruiting ability. Saying CBJ will get whoever he wants is just not accurate. McClendon, Cornwell, Gentry, and others. There will always be a lot of misses in recruiting because other schools want the same kids our coaches want.

Oh yeah I forgot about him. It's funny that AU sold Ford on playing RB in Malzahn's system then promptly moved him to DB as soon as he got on campus. I bet Ford would've got carries at UT imo.

Back to the original point, either way you look at it Butch is beating Auburn for recruits now as that wasn't the case when Dooley was running the show.

Surprised that didn't lead to Ford transferring. He's an Auburn fan, IIRC, and will probably do whatever to be a part of the team. Can't blame him for that.

The QB will run about 10% of the time in CBJ's system. Whereas the percentage is much higher in Malzahn's. So, Malzan might try to put on a slick sales pitch, but the stats don't lie.

That's not to say a QB like Mariotta, from Oregon, can't get drafted because he, too, comes out of a run-heavy system. But the low percentage with which OR and AU pass, is enough of a concern to GM's and scouts, when they try to make a determination if that player can translate their game to a more traditional, Pro style game.
Malzahn has never been tied to running his QBs any X% of time. Seems to be a common fallacy. The last 3 QBs committed to Auburn (Johnson, White, Queen) have all been classified as pro style QBs. While being a run first offense, he takes what he has and adapts the offense around it.

His offenses passed for ridiculous numbers at Tulsa in '07 and '08. He had the living statue Chris Todd at QB in '09, almost never ran read option, and still broke almost every offensive record Auburn had.

Newton and Marshall happen to be exceptional athletes that allowed him to run the ball more often than usual but he's definitely not tied to only having DT QB's.

Far more dangerous to put all your eggs in one basket. You cannot commit to an uncommited 18 year old on this important a position.

If I had to bet, I would bet against Gibson being a Vol. Nothing against the kid or this staff, etc. But I think the Auburn handshakes and Koolaid might be a little too strong in the end.

Lambert and Lawson

Lambert, Yes AU beat us for him.

Lawson on the other hand was committed to AU for almost a year while Butch had a little over a month to recruit him. Tough to say that Butch got "beat" with that one imo. It was impressive how he nearly pulled Lawson with such a small amount of time.

Yeah comparing winning on certain recruits is tricky business

What do you get out of being on our board? Gtfo!btw, I was soooo happy FSU beat y'alls a**!
Cool story man. I was pretty happy we beat y'all's to be honest. I actually LOVE the camarardarie of the vast majority of posters on this board. It's nice to be able to have a civil discussion with posters of a rival team. That's what I'm trying to get out of this.

I've been watching your posts, you've been a consistently respectful rival fan as far as I can see. Always enjoy having respectful, non-troll posters who enjoy good-natured rivalry. Keep it up! :hi:

I see Jennings and Gibson as very similar QBs skillset wise. Both great on the move, and not so much in the pocket. Of course both kids could develop as passers in time.

Dormady IMO is clearly a better passer right now. He would be better with the other weapons we have on offense right now. I'd take him and not give it a 2nd thought.

Williams would be a walk-on and unless Gibson wants to walk-on comparing them is pointless. He threw for 5000 yards last year and 50 TDs and would not be taking a scholarship. IMO no brainer to add him as depth to the roster if he wants in.

Yes Gibson and Jennings are very similar. But whatif Gibson is better (which is popular belief).

Dormandy runs a pass friendly offense. If people are going to rag on TG for his offense, you cant just overlook everyone else's. He can read defenses somewhat and is pretty accurate but he seems to be lacking arm strength.

You're implying that you would take dormandy and williams over Gibson. Thats just insane.

I either want Gibson or Francois. They are the most talented QBs that we have the best chance at. Gibson's elite athleticism cant be taught. No one would be questioning Marcus Mariota deciding to transfer here even though they are basically the same player.

Francois can make plays with his legs too. Although its not necessary to have a mobile QB, Its an added dimension to Francois game. He also is a talented passer from the pocket.

Was definitely an uphill battle.

Keep posting, dude.

Btw, I'll take Marquez North and Josh Malone against Duke and Coates. :hi:

No they didn't. Lambert had grade issues telling CBJ all along everything was fine up until the last minute. He was told to move along.
